  • Possess a general professional proficiency in Korean with a language rating of Interagency Language Roundtable level 2 plus or American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Advanced-High or higher.
  • Demonstrate Korean language proficiency through an Oral Proficiency Interview from the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, an interview certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, or a Defense Language Proficiency Test.
  • Achieve at least an Interagency Language Roundtable level 2 in English as measured by a Department of Defense test.
  • Achieve a minimum score of 553 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper-Based Test, or an Internet-Based Test score of 83 overall with at least 20 in each section of Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing.
  • Achieve a score of no less than 82 on the English Comprehension Level test.
  • Achieve at least a proficiency level 2 or Advanced-Low on an American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Oral Proficiency Interview.
  • Provide documentation of a minimum of 80 hours of training in online language teaching.
  • Pass a required foreign language test as part of the candidate selection process.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.
  • Willingness to travel as required for the position.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Government in managing all aspects of unit foreign Language, Regional Expertise, and Cultural training for the 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne).
  • Execute planned Programs of Instruction and ad hoc tutoring sessions for the Korean language.
  • Teach language curriculum based on designated Programs of Instruction and obtain Government approval for any deviations.
  • Develop daily lesson plans at least one day in advance of delivery.
  • Record student attendance and make daily annotations regarding learning progress and behavioral development.
  • Develop weekly progress reports and provide weekly feedback to the Site Lead and Program of Instruction analyst.
  • Develop, review, correct, and grade daily homework and weekly assessments or quizzes.
  • Maintain a professional learning environment and address student behavior or attendance concerns with the site lead.
  • Collaborate with the Site Lead, Program of Instruction analyst, or Language Instructional Developer to address curriculum gaps.
  • Provide instruction in listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills using modern communicative methodology.
  • Deliver instruction on regional and cultural subjects related to the target language.
  • Integrate technology into the classroom and homework assignments using resources such as Smart Boards, Blackboard, Rapid Rote, SharePoint, iPads, and Tablet Personal Computers.
  • Develop original learning materials and employ computer skills to organize data and teaching resources.
