Requirements
  • A high school diploma and 1–2 years of experience in a veterinary setting are required.
  • Strong patient restraint skills, including the ability to handle difficult animals, are required.
  • The ability to multitask and follow directions is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
Responsibilities
  • Organize, clean, and stock treatment areas and dog and cat treatment rooms.
  • Assist with patient restraint and walk stable patients in designated areas.
  • Run laboratory work and pharmacy and laboratory errands.
  • Assist veterinary nurses with treatments under direct supervision.
  • Set up intravenous catheter placement, gather fluids, and ensure the crash cart is ready during emergencies.
  • Update patient charts and hand over supplies as directed during arrest situations.
  • Perform temperature, pulse, and respiration checks and blood pressure checks.
  • Set up oxygen and fluids.
  • Assist with recoveries from anesthesia.
  • Monitor blood transfusions.
