Requirements
  • 0-1 years of experience.
  • Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related discipline, or a high school diploma or General Educational Development credential and 3 years of restaurant management, business-to-business sales, outside sales, or equivalent relatable experience.
  • Basic personal computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to drive a personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, company meetings, and other business activities.
Responsibilities
  • Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and special objectives within the assigned territory.
  • Seek and qualify prospects following company account stratification goals.
  • Research customer business needs and develop a mix of products and services to meet those needs.
  • Evaluate market trends and recommend products to customers based on their business needs and goals.
  • Stay informed about market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products, prices, and sales, and share this information with customers as a value-added service.
  • Answer customer questions about products, prices, availability, and product use.
  • Provide product information and practical training to customer personnel.
  • Communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working with the credit department and clients, and collect balances due based on approved credit terms.
  • Manage deliveries according to the transportation department’s routing schedule and troubleshoot order-process problems such as out-of-stock items, special-order items, and low inventory.
  • Participate in company functions, promotions, customer visits, and customer events.
  • Attend and participate in general sales and district meetings.
  • Engage in ongoing training sessions.
  • Assist with training new employees as requested.
  • Review and analyze daily and weekly reports, including special-order requests, customer bid files, and sales and gross-profit-margin data.
  • Perform administrative duties, including preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits and pickup requests, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions, and filing reports.
  • Work some non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet customer needs.
