CURE International Children's Hospitals

View

CURE International runs a network of Christian children’s hospitals that deliver surgical care at no cost to families. In a compassionate, gospel-centered setting, qualified surgeons perform pediatric surgeries and post-operative care funded by donors worldwide. The service works through a nonprofit model: patients receive needed procedures free of charge, with funding and support coming from a global donor base and partnerships with local hospitals. This approach differentiates CURE from typical healthcare providers by combining faith-based care with a global, donor-supported system focused specifically on children. The company’s goal is to ensure that financially unable families can access essential surgical care for their children, while sharing compassionate Christian care across communities.

What believers are saying

  • FY25 delivered 21,019 surgeries and the most ministry activity in CURE history.
  • Joni and Friends partnership delivered 200 wheelchairs in Uganda, extending patient outcomes beyond surgery.
  • The 2026 Addis Ababa expansion strengthens training capacity for 200 surgeons and anesthesiologists annually.

What critics are saying

  • CURE Ethiopia's $12.5 million build depends on partners like Rees-Jones Foundation and USAID.
  • Mission-driven governance and religious framing limit talent pools, complicate scaling, and deter secular operators.

What makes CURE International Children's Hospitals unique

  • Eight pediatric hospitals across Africa and the Philippines focus on treatable childhood disabilities.
  • CURE Ethiopia's 22,000-square-foot expansion adds five operating rooms and 5,000 annual patients by 2026.
  • Bahmni digitization with Thoughtworks standardizes workflows across seven African hospitals, improving EMR consistency.
