Requirements
  • Experience working in children and young people’s services, including supporting children and young people with substance misuse issues.
  • Awareness of the social, emotional, and practical challenges affecting young people and their families.
  • Strong knowledge of drugs and alcohol and their physical, psychological, and social effects.
  • Experience leading staff through line management and reflective supervision.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding children and young people, with experience embedding safeguarding practices operationally.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with external agencies and partners.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial and clinical intervention approaches, including motivational interviewing and the International Treatment Effectiveness Project.
  • Understanding of the Hidden Harm agenda and the impact of parental substance misuse on children.
  • Experience delivering support and interventions in community-based settings.
  • Applicants must already have the right to work in the United Kingdom at the time of application.

Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision and line management to identified team members to ensure delivery of a high-quality service.
  • Guide the team in assessing the needs of children, young people, and families, creating individual and group plans, and encouraging engagement with support.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Identify and work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve positive service outcomes.
  • Recognise training needs within the team and support team members in achieving professional development goals.
  • Lead performance management by using tools such as observed practice to identify improvement areas and implement targeted support or action plans.
  • Collaborate with managers from Social Care, Youth Justice Services, and other partner organisations to enhance activity within their services.
  • Monitor budget expenditure with the Cluster Manager, including client costs, staff expenses, and operational costs.
  • Work with the Service Manager to uphold governance standards and use monitoring systems effectively.
