Responsibilities
  • Lead a security culture, including crisis response, a strong safety environment, and crowd management planning, while supporting guests and team members.
  • Implement daily and weekly Assets Protection workload priorities to support business priorities and deliver on goals.
  • Respond to external and internal theft incidents and prevent future theft.
  • Implement strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud and apprehend individuals attempting to cause a loss in accordance with Target policy and leadership guidance.
  • Partner with, educate, and support store business leaders on operational shortage priorities.
  • Lead a team of hourly team members, including interviewing, developing, evaluating, and retaining talent.
  • Deliver guest experience commitments and create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience.
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers Target guest experience commitments and consistent operations.
  • Observe team members, provide feedback, hold them accountable, and recognize strong guest experience performance.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve performance, align the team on behaviors and execution, celebrate wins, and drive results.
  • Support total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available to guests.
  • Welcome and engage guests at the front of the store and on the sales floor.
  • Influence and validate physical security and safety processes, participate in store response and emergency crisis situations, and create security plans for in-store events.
  • Support store leadership in educating teams on emergency preparedness and physical security procedures.
  • Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise under the direction of the direct leader.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and support the direct leader in talent planning through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Identify theft and shortage trends in the store.
  • Identify shortage risks in key areas and support store and district leaders in developing tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales.
  • Work a schedule aligned with guest and business needs based on security and theft patterns, including early morning, overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • Develop team schedules and adjust them based on security and theft trends with leader validation.
  • Own the prevention, identification, and resolution of external theft incidents, including merchandise protection budgeting, and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations as directed by the Assets Protection leader or direct leader.
  • Educate store leadership on merchandise protection best practices and audit execution with key partners.
  • Implement and follow up on operational changes directed by the direct leader.
  • Support the direct leader in educating and supporting store teams on operational shortage priorities.
  • Order merchandise protection devices as needed to support store minimum standards.
  • Review and manage the allocated merchandise protection budget in accordance with the Merchandise Protection Best Practice on Workbench.
  • Communicate Assets Protection priorities to the team, peers, and leadership.
  • Build relationships of trust and accountability with the leader and Store Director.
  • Maintain relationships with district and store leaders and law enforcement.
  • Ensure teams and tactics maintain Target’s reputation.
  • Collaborate with retail organization partners to analyze industry trends and enhance security for guests and team members.
  • Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team under the direction of the direct leader.
  • Support team onboarding and learning and close knowledge and skill gaps through training and experience.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct and compliance and hold team members accountable to these commitments.
  • Hold team members accountable to expectations set by the direct leader.
  • Maintain all required training.
  • Serve as the first responder for in-store safety incidents, including security and weather incidents, by executing Target procedures and best practices.
  • Lead and demonstrate execution of best practices through team onboarding, learning, development, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches and creating equitable experiences.
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture by modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, assisting with incident response, and reporting and investigating injuries accurately and promptly.
  • Execute safety program management routines such as monthly safety meetings and observations.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests.
  • Model physical security processes to enhance the in-store security culture.
  • Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store, including storage and application as directed by best practices.
  • Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.

  • Previous retail and/or loss prevention experience is preferred but not required.
