  • At least 10–15 years of experience in civil engineering design, site development, and infrastructure delivery for data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial, energy, or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in civil engineering systems, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, roadways, underground infrastructure, and site development.
  • Proven experience as a senior technical contributor on multidisciplinary projects and coordinating or providing technical direction to design consultants across multiple projects.
  • Strong understanding of land development processes, permitting, zoning, environmental regulations, and utility coordination.
  • Experience supporting projects across North America and/or European development and construction environments.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable civil engineering codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with civil engineering and design tools, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS applications, and BIM-based coordination platforms.
  • Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, reports, calculations, and construction documents.
  • Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, utility providers, regulatory agencies, procurement teams, and operations organizations.

  • Partner with regional design and execution teams to capture lessons learned and incorporate continuous improvements into future developments.
  • Collaborate with the Development team on site due diligence, including assessment of land constraints, utility availability, permitting requirements, environmental considerations, and development feasibility.
  • Collaborate with utility providers, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and permitting authorities to support project development and approvals.
  • Perform and support value engineering analyses, providing technical recommendations that optimize constructability, schedule, operational performance, resilience, and lifecycle costs.
  • Develop and implement tools, templates, processes, and technical guidance that improve engineering consistency, efficiency, and quality across the portfolio.
  • Support development and standardization of site infrastructure requirements for roads, utilities, stormwater systems, water supply, wastewater, and other critical civil infrastructure.
  • Review site layouts and master plans to ensure efficient integration of buildings, infrastructure systems, and future expansion requirements.
  • Collaborate with architecture, mechanical, electrical, procurement, construction, environmental, and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support sustainability initiatives by incorporating responsible land development practices, water management strategies, and resilient infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide hands-on civil engineering support and technical oversight during design, construction, commissioning, and project closeout phases.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to project teams and engineering partners, promoting engineering excellence and consistent best practices.
  • Provide technical input to contractor, consultant, and engineering partner selection, evaluation, and performance reviews.

About the Company

SB Energy

Builds and runs power plants and AI data centers

SB Energy develops, builds, owns and operates large data center campuses and the power plants that supply them, mainly for AI companies across the United States. Its approach puts power first, developing on-site generation and grid connections alongside its campuses so computing capacity can come online faster. The company also owns solar and battery storage projects, including a Texas solar complex whose anchor customer is Google. It earns revenue by leasing data center capacity to tenants under long-term agreements and by selling electricity from its power portfolio. SB Energy, a SoftBank Group company, was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in Redwood City, California.
