Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily computer numerical control mill production to ensure orders are completed on time, within cost, and to quality standards.
  • Set up and operate three-, four-, and five-axis computer numerical control mills, and verify routers, drawings, and programs for accuracy.
  • Provide setups, instructions, and tooling support to operators, and monitor cycle times, scrap rates, and part quality.
  • Lead and motivate the machinist team by setting goals, delegating tasks, and fostering open communication.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate employees, and support hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions in line with company policy.
  • Promote Lean manufacturing, 5S, safety compliance, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Manage standardized work practices, shop-floor organization, and equipment care.
  • Collaborate with programming and operations teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Drive process improvements, risk management, and knowledge sharing across the department.
  • Support team development through training programs, feedback, and team-building activities.
  • Test and validate programs, set up machines to run programs, acclimate computer numerical control operators to machine operation, and troubleshoot programs.
  • Manage and direct production personnel and processes, including production control, quality control, safety, ISO documentation, and shipping and receiving.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction for assigned work orders while coordinating with internal teams and vendor staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience decreasing turnaround times is preferred.
  • The ability to streamline work processes is preferred.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 and AS9100 is preferred.
  • At least five years of experience as a computer numerical control setup machinist is preferred.
  • Three-axis Mastercam programming experience is a plus.
  • Having tools such as indicators, micrometers, calipers, and deburring tools is preferred.
