Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant training program is required.
  • Must hold certification as a Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, National Certified Medical Assistant, or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.
  • Two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a direct patient care setting is required.
  • Must possess a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver's license and remain insurable under the organization's liability auto policy.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the required timeframe.
  • Must pass substance abuse testing upon employment and submit to random testing during employment.
  • Must provide an updated immunization record at the time of employment.
  • Must have a current Tuberculosis skin report upon employment and provide an annual update.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support certification within 90 calendar days of employment and maintain the certification.
  • Knowledge of primary care clinic purpose and operations, medical terminology, infection control, bloodborne pathogen procedures, medication administration, medical supplies and equipment, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to enter and retrieve healthcare information from an electronic health record.
  • Ability to perform duties efficiently, prioritize work, adjust to unexpected events, and work effectively with medical clinic employees and diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities
  • Screen patients, document findings in the medical information system, and alert practitioners to special care needs.
  • Assist practitioners and other professional staff in delivering patient care and reinforce discharge instructions and deliverables.
  • Administer medications and immunizations under the direction of healthcare professionals and document them in the medical information system.
  • Practice infection control and bloodborne pathogen precautions, procedures, and practices.
  • Perform medical office administration, monitor inventories, and maintain supply levels for patient care activities.
  • Perform Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments-waiver testing and collaborate with the contract laboratory technician.
  • Perform all core competencies while providing patient-centered care.
  • Support the organization's mission as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with pediatric and adult patients is preferred.
  • Spanish language fluency is preferred.
