Compensation Overview

Reports to: Senior Director, Web

Location: Remote US and Canada

Compensation Range: $180,000 to $195,000 base, plus bonus and equity

What You’ll Do:

Huntress is adding our first Principal Web Developer to our Product Marketing team. As the Principal Web Developer, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our customer-facing websites and portals. You will be responsible for ensuring that our digital properties are functioning as designed, performant, ranking for search results, and optimized for conversion.  

The ideal candidate has extensive technical expertise and can work independently or with a team to create, maintain, and update our digital properties. Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and web applications and services is essential for succeeding in this role. Ruby on Rails and Go Lang proficiency is a plus. You will work collaboratively across the business between the entire marketing function, along with sales, product management as well as others.

Product Engineering 

• Create well-designed and tested code using best practices for web development, including responsive design and mobile display
• Create websites and interfaces using standard HTML/CSS practices, and incorporate data from back-end databases and services
• Implement new site features, backend integrations, split tests and more to grow and optimize our web presence 
• Engage in the full development lifecycle designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, monitoring and improving our websites and portal
• Monitor and optimize website performance, including page load times, mobile responsiveness, and overall user experience
• Monitor site health and performance to anticipate future problems to proactively address issues, ensuring uptime 
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies; research and advocate for new technology and new methodologies

Leadership and Collaboration

• Build, lead, and develop a team of engineers that can work collaboratively across the organization while fostering Huntress’ core values
• Acts as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the marketing team for their digital needs 
• Prioritizes work for the engineering team based on the roadmap and inputs from leadership
• Collaborate with fellow engineers, designers, and data analysts to take an idea from concept to technical design to implementation to testing to measurement
• Collaborate with stakeholders cross-functionally to determine what the underlying problems and needs are to build the right solution

Requirements

• 10+ years of practical development experience; with a heavy emphasis on the technical side
• Experience in planning and developing websites across multiple products and organizations
• Extensive knowledge of web applications, programming languages, and web services — including API, CSS, CSS3, cross-browser compatibility, HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, security principles, REST, SOAP, and web user interface design
• Proficiency with content management systems
• Experience in e-commerce applications and development
• Experience in implementing web development workflows and operations using a variety of tools, including GitHub Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities, with a track record of leading and inspiring teams to achieve outstanding results
