Software Engineer

As a full stack engineer at Airtable, you will have the opportunity to work with customers to deeply understand their needs and workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners across product management, design, research and data science to create innovative new features that enable our customers to do their best work. You will be responsible for owning and executing the end-to-end implementation of these new features that will contribute to making our toolkit even more powerful and successful.

Teams & New Product Lines:

• The AI Builder Team’s (Fullstack, SF/NYC) mission is to leverage generative AI to empower Airtable users to effortlessly create powerful applications that are tailored to their use cases. The team recently launched Cobuilder, which assists users in creating new apps from scratch. Now, they’re developing a suite of AI tools to help users customize and expand their apps. These tools will assist users throughout their building journey – from generating relevant dashboards based on user data, to adding new workflows to existing apps.
• The AI Primitives Team (Fullstack, SF) is making it safe and easy to deploy AI in line-of-business workflows.  We recently launched the first version of Airtable AI, which includes AI-enabled fields that allow you to leverage AI in your Airtable base.  The team is actively focused on supporting document processing use cases with AI, expanding AI to all fields in the product, helping users generate prompts with AI, and building frameworks to help deploy and govern AI at massive scale.
• The Core Experience Team (Fullstack/FE, SF/NYC) owns the UI layer of the Airtable app building platform. This layer (Interface Designer), sits atop the Data and Automations layer, and enables customers to create customized interfaces, supporting an expansive array of use cases. The team also owns complex backend systems, such as Airtable’s advanced permissions framework and the systems powering commenting and notifications. Additionally, the team collaborates closely with cross-functional partners and engages directly with customers to gather requirements and discuss use cases firsthand.
• The New Product Lines Team (Fullstack, SF/NYC) is responsible for creating new products that accelerate the adoption of Airtable for specific use cases at large organizations. Our first launch introduces Airtable for Product, designed specifically for product organizations to more efficiently manage their workflows and operations. This team will continue to scale its product and infrastructure to support new verticals, addressing the most in-demand customer use cases for Airtable deployments.

Enterprise:

• The Application Lifecycle Management Team’s (Fullstack/BE, SF) mission is to enable sophisticated apps to be built on Airtable, by turning it into a comprehensive development platform where apps can be customized and extended with code or no-code. The team is currently building App Sandboxing capabilities to facilitate the development, management, and deployment of sophisticated and critical workflows. Additionally, the team oversees the public Web API, extensions, and other advanced functionalities that expand the possibilities of what can be built with Airtable.

Please note: while we employ a hybrid working model at Airtable (flexible in working from the office or elsewhere), we are looking to hire candidates at this level that are based in San Francisco/New York/Austin who are open to coming into the office at least ~2-3 times/week for team collaboration.

What you’ll do

• Spec and build product features that are beautiful, consistent, and fast, that encourage exploration, and that earn the trust of our customers through predictable, reliable, and thoughtful interactions.
• Work at all levels of the stack, from AWS, Node.js, and SQL to React, HTML. and CSS to build and maintain end to end products on Airtable.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and data scientists to understand the needs of potential users and build a product that unlocks their potential.
• Work alongside and learn from a talented group of engineers with a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds.

Who you are

• You have ~2-5 years of industry experience with modern full-stack web development, with particular emphasis on user facing feature development and full stack or frontend work. Please note: while we are flexible on leveling for this role, we are particularly looking to hire junior/mid-career candidates given our roadmap needs. 
• You are fluent in one or more frontend and backend technologies, and are interested in programming in JavaScript and React.
• You are excited by a product-oriented full stack or frontend role. 
• You have a good understanding of web technologies and large-scale web application architecture.
• You have a background in computer science or a related field.
• You believe the best product is the one that helps users accomplish their goals while growing the business.
• You take a thoughtful approach to decision making; knowing when to move fast and when to do things right.
• You have strong convictions, weakly held and assume validation and iteration are a given to produce the best results.
• You show strong ownership instincts and sweat the details.
• You are currently based and/or will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City.
