Requirements

Less than one year of related work experience is preferred.

Fitness equipment knowledge or training is required.
Fitness instruction qualification is required.

The ability to move, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds is required.
The ability to stand, sit, or walk for an extended period is required.
The ability to reach, bend, twist, pull, stoop, and use stairs or service ramps is required.

Responsibilities

Promote a fun and relaxing atmosphere for guests in recreational activities and areas.
Encourage, recruit, register, and schedule guests to participate in recreation activities.
Promote recreation facility rules and regulations intended to ensure the safety and welfare of participating children and adults.
Observe activity in the recreation facility and respond appropriately to emergencies according to local operating procedures.
Identify when guests may be unable to participate safely and inform a supervisor or manager.
Assist injured guests until emergency medical services arrive.
Maintain an adequate supply of cups and water in the recreation area.
Clean recreation area restrooms and showers, wipe down fitness center machines, and remove towels, trash, and debris from the fitness center area.
Advise individuals on the correct method of exercising with fitness equipment.
Instruct group fitness classes for all ability levels.
Advise guests or lead them on hikes, walks, or other physical activities.
Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to a manager; complete safety training and certifications.
Follow company policies and procedures; maintain a clean and professional uniform and personal appearance; protect confidential proprietary information and company assets.
Anticipate and address guests’ service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation.
Speak with others using clear and professional language and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.

Be aware of possible situations where guests are not able to safely participate in an activity and inform supervisor/manager. Provide assistance to injured guests until the arrival of emergency medical services. Maintain an adequate supply of cups and water in recreation area. Clean fitness and recreation area restrooms and showers, wipe down fitness center machines, and remove towels, trash, and debris from fitness center area.
