About the job
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is required.
- A degree from an accredited school in nursing, dietetics, food and nutrition, or a related program is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist certification is required.
- A current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in good standing is required, as applicable; a Tennessee license is required.
- Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist or Certified Diabetes Educator certification from the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
- Specialized knowledge of diabetes medications, continuous glucose monitors, point-of-care glucometers, and insulin pumps is required.
- Provide nutrition resources and diabetes education support to clinical investigators, and assist with protocol development, implementation, and content delivery as needed.
- Conduct patient consultations and education through onsite and virtual visits under the direction of the physician in charge of the clinical trial.
- Assess nutritional status and provide standard-of-care guidance and therapy in accordance with research study protocols.
- Work cooperatively with interdisciplinary departmental staff and the Principal Investigator to complete visits and submit accurate source documentation.
- Educate clinical trial participants about diabetes medications, continuous glucose monitors, point-of-care glucometers, and insulin pumps.
- Schedule subject appointments within the required appointment window.
- Maintain required licenses, certifications, credentialing materials, and other documents.
- Stay current on education related to diabetes, nutrition, and food health.
- Review and adhere to assigned research study protocols.
- Maintain proper documentation and complete source documents promptly.
- Ensure clinical activities comply with established research protocols, standards, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and sponsor, contract research organization, and vendor associates.
- Communicate with participants and their partners, informants, or caregivers.
- Attend and successfully complete training programs, participate in ongoing conference calls, webinars, and other professional development opportunities, and complete required Good Clinical Practice training.
