About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 14 years of experience in physical design, with a proven track record of multiple sub-5nm tape-outs.
  • Mastery of Cadence Innovus, Tempus, Joules, Pegasus, and Voltus.
  • Deep understanding of sub-5nm physics, including EUV constraints, multi-patterning, FinFET, and IR/EM challenges.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Static Timing Analysis, Physical Verification, Power Integrity, and ECO methodology.
  • Proficiency in Tcl and Python to develop custom flow wrappers and data-mining tools for PPA analysis.
  • Ability to consider system-level trade-offs and solve timing challenges through floorplanning or RTL/architecture decisions.
  • Ability to build strong technical relationships with front-end teams, foundries, and EDA vendors to align execution strategy.
  • Ability to apply first-principles critical thinking rather than following vendor best practices when they are not suitable for the architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of massive, high-speed blocks and SoCs from synthesis through sign-off using the Cadence Digital Suite.
  • Analyze and optimize interactions among library cells, metal stacks, and tool engines to improve power, performance, and area.
  • Build and refine a robust, repeatable push-button execution methodology that minimizes manual iterations.
  • Collaborate with RTL, architecture, and DFT teams to influence design decisions early and ensure physical constraints inform architecture.
  • Identify execution-pipeline bottlenecks, including runtime, convergence issues, and tool limitations, and develop automated solutions to address them.
  • Mentor and elevate the technical competence of the physical design team.
  • Overhaul legacy flows and develop scalable, predictable paths from RTL to GDSII.
