Requirements
  • A valid driver's license and ability to meet company motor vehicle record standards are required.
  • The candidate must pass a clean background check and drug screening.
  • The candidate must work outdoors in the full range of weather conditions experienced throughout all seasons.
  • The candidate must be able to walk for extended periods over irregular terrain while carrying or using surface geophysical and surveying equipment typically weighing less than 30 pounds.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and carry equipment, tools, or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances, including loading and unloading them from vehicles and storage areas.
  • The candidate must be able to remove and replace manhole lids and covers weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in identifying marked and unmarked utilities and structures in the field.
  • Perform operator-level maintenance on assigned company tools and equipment as required.
  • Assist in implementing approved traffic control plans.
  • Actively work toward obtaining the operator qualifications required by clients.
  • Follow established procedures to identify and repair broken trace wires on unlocatable gas lines.
  • Operate a vacuum truck and related tools and equipment, including a jackhammer, pogo tamper, concrete saw, compressor blower, vacuum hose, air lance, and hand tools such as shovels.
  • Use proper forms and survey equipment to document work.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Peak Rock Capital has sold SAM Companies, a geospatial and inspection services provider for utilities and critical infrastructure, to New Mountain Capital. Financial terms were not disclosed. Under Peak Rock's ownership since 2021, SAM more than doubled revenue, completed 19 acquisitions, and expanded from its original footprint to add 25 offices. The company now serves 20 of the top 25 US utilities, providing end-to-end geospatial intelligence services across the critical infrastructure lifecycle. SAM, founded in 1994 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, uses advanced scientific methods to capture and analyse infrastructure data, supporting grid modernisation and AI-driven infrastructure investment.
