Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with an anticipated graduation date of May 2026.
  • Familiarity with power systems, substations, or electrical design is beneficial.
  • Exposure to the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, National Electrical Manufacturers Association, and American National Standards Institute is beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to learn and grow.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Excel is beneficial.
Responsibilities
  • Create and modify one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panel arrangements, and cable schedules for high-voltage substations from 32.4 to 230 kilovolts.
  • Support engineering and construction documentation for new substation installations and modifications, including bills of materials, yard layouts, plan and section views, and electrical details.
  • Assist with substation grounding designs, including ground grids, rigid and strain bus, and raceway layouts.
  • Support the design of auxiliary alternating-current and direct-current power systems.
  • Help develop and update technical specifications for major substation equipment such as power transformers, circuit breakers, and control houses.
  • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to support protection, control, and monitoring system integration.
  • Participate in construction, testing, and commissioning support to gain field exposure.
  • Apply field markups to as-built drawings and perform basic engineering calculations, including voltage drop, current-transformer burden, saturation, lighting, and short-circuit calculations, with guidance and mentorship.
  • Travel up to 25% depending on project needs.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned across different project phases.
Desired Qualifications
  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is preferred but not required.
  • Coursework or familiarity with power systems, substations, or electrical design.
  • Exposure to the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, National Electrical Manufacturers Association, and American National Standards Institute.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Excel.
