Sony Music Entertainment is a member of the Sony family of global companies.
This role will be based in Culver City, CA.Reporting directly to the SVP of Sony Music Vision, Business Affairs and Production Operations, the VP, Production Management, Sony Music Vision Film/TV will provide support for premium film and television projects to optimize production processes and efficiencies. In this role, you will serve as business partner to the division’s executives and play a critical role in overseeing the production operations of third-party partners, ensuring alignment with business unit objectives and overall Sony Music Vision goals. This role requires a dynamic, strategic thinker with exceptional business acumen and proven leadership skills.
What you’ll do:
- Serve as primary liaison between Sony Music Vision and 3rd party production companies.
- Coordinate with Sony Music Vision and label partners for proper greenlight approvals and project set-up.
- Manage entire production process from pre-production through delivery, to
ensure on-budget and on-time delivery of premium content.
- Act as key liaison working with all internal departments including Creative, Finance & Accounting, Business Affairs, Film Operations and Asset Management, Global Media Production, Sales, Risk/Management, Insurance, PR, and Marketing.
- Partner with Business Affairs in contracting with production companies and other participants.
- Review, scrutinize and provide notes on film and television budgets and production schedules for efficiencies and to ensure budgets accurately reflect all potential costs.
- Approve key production heads and/or recommend high level crew and creative talent for each production. Determine key vendors to accommodate creative vision and relationships, tax incentives, post-activities, etc.
- Have regular meetings to monitor and control expenditures, track project milestones, address issues and/or delays to ensure adherence to production schedules and perform regular quality control and compliance reviews. Travel as needed to set.
- Monitor post-production activities and coordinate with decision makers.
- Manage and oversee the paper delivery process in/out and coordinate with the Sr. Director, Film Operations on technical delivery in/out.
- Mange third party vendors related to production and delivery.
- Review all final cost reports, report on overages/breakage and resolve any production related open issues.
Who you are:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Media, Film, Television, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- You have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in production roles within the Film & TV or related entertainment sector (music industry a plus).
- Experience with documentary films and music-centric content.
- You have a proven track record of success in film production budget oversight, analysis, and production management, with deep understanding of Film & TV pre/post-production and delivery (both delivery in and delivery out).
- You have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to direct a team while promoting a positive morale in a fast-paced, delivery-driven environment.
- Experience in the implementation of project management tools and systems.
- Extensive list of talented industry contacts across multiple disciplines.
- Ability to outline and develop best practices and processes – a leader, not a follower.
- Ability to review insurance quotes and make recommendations with experience in accurately identifying project risks.
- Ability to quickly and effectively draft indicative project budgets in advance of concept approval.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Expertise with production management and other tools (E.G. Movie Magic Budgeting, Google Eco System, Microsoft Eco System) and familiarity with postproduction/editorial systems and finishing processes.

The anticipated annual base salary does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
