  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to synthesize study conduct.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily clinical operations of assigned research studies in accordance with study protocols, regulatory and Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and institutional policy.
  • Develop and maintain tools for study implementation, including data collection tools, reference materials, and specific study orders; revise and utilize tools as necessary.
  • Create and disseminate study-related educational content for internal and external audiences to ensure safe and accurate protocol implementation.
  • Coordinate patient enrollment and participation by reviewing study candidates’ medical records for eligibility, initiating enrollment, ensuring informed consent, and maintaining accurate enrollment records.
  • Schedule patient clinic visits and ongoing study visits; ensure administrative compliance with study protocols for clinical procedures, laboratory tests, and other patient activities; administer study questionnaires when needed, ensure drug self-administration accountability with patients, and perform non-clinical electrocardiograms when needed.
  • Complete clinical requisition forms as instructed, assemble kits for patient visits, transport laboratory samples, ensure samples are processed and shipped according to study guidelines, and track and maintain research supplies.
  • Identify, track, and confirm billable activities for patients; work with internal partners to obtain and submit budget and billing information; assist in reviewing patient charges to ensure billing compliance when needed.
  • Act as protocol liaison with clinical teams, patients, and providers on study-related topics.
  • Prepare and coordinate monitoring visits and respond to queries and other requests from study monitors, following up on and resolving issues that arise.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge in the field by attending related project meetings and symposia, reading related literature, and maintaining professional associations.
  • Travel to attend industry-sponsored investigator meetings when needed.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate source documentation and performing case report form data entry.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • Certified Clinical Research Coordinator certification or Clinical Research Professional certification through SOCRA.
  • Five years of experience in a research environment with regulatory or human research protections.
  • Previous experience working with National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration, and Office for Human Research Protections regulations and medical terminology.
  • Ability to work with multiple data management systems, including generating reports and sourcing data from systems.
  • Ability to extract data from medical records.
  • Ability to apply judgment in interpreting regulations, determining impacts, and knowing when to escalate questions and concerns appropriately.

Allen Institute, UW, and Fred Hutch launch AI BioDesign accelerator to decode biology's design rules

The Allen Institute, University of Washington, and Fred Hutch Cancer Center have launched AI BioDesign, a collaborative accelerator combining artificial intelligence with experimental biology to explore biological design space. The initiative aims to generate open models, datasets, and tools for creating biological solutions in healthcare, environmental challenges, and advanced technologies. AI BioDesign will operate through a continuous learning platform where AI models propose biological designs, scientists test them at scale, and results feed back into the models. The accelerator focuses on building modular models from tractable biological problems and conducting multiplex experiments. All models, datasets, assays, and benchmarks will be openly shared. The collaboration leverages Seattle's scientific ecosystem, combining the Allen Institute's open-science platforms, UW's synthetic biology expertise, and Fred Hutch's cellular systems knowledge. The project is supported by Fund for Science and Technology, a foundation in the Paul G. Allen philanthropic ecosystem.
