Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, such as a General Educational Development certificate, is required.
  • A minimum of two to three years of financial institution and/or collections experience is required.
  • Two years of experience in financial adjustments, payment application and reconciliation, general ledger management, or accounting is required.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, strategic thinking, and excellent analytical skills are required.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, organize work efficiently, and make decisions independently of the immediate supervisor is required.
  • The ability to operate related computer applications and office equipment is required.
  • The candidate must be bondable.
  • The candidate must work scheduled hours and overtime as required, including possible evening or weekend duties.
Responsibilities
  • Complete required research, processing, and financial adjustments to support the Collections Department.
  • Provide information and assistance to Credit Union staff and members, answer questions, and maintain member accounts and documents accurately and completely.
  • Assist with OREO, fair market value write-down, and collateral in possession processes for the Collections Department while maintaining accurate account and file documentation.
  • Process payments, reversals, and reapplications for post-charge-off recoveries received from the in-house recovery team, placement agencies, and firms.
  • Perform Collections Department transactions, including posting exception payments, claim funds, sale proceeds, disbursing checks, deposits, transfers, and withdrawals.
  • Research and adjust loans, accounts, and related general ledgers as necessary.
  • Assist the Senior Asset Recovery Analyst with reconciliation and adjustments of department accounts and general ledgers, and post income and expenses to related general ledgers.
  • Complete vendor payments for the Collections Department.
  • Process bankruptcy checks accurately.
  • Perform file maintenance supporting department processes such as loan modifications and charge-off processing.
  • Assist Collections and Credit Union staff with file maintenance and transaction research for escalated disputes.
  • Generate and mail applicable collections letters, including deficiency balance letters.
  • Assist with department mail processing when necessary.
  • Assist with new-hire training and job shadowing when necessary.
  • Assist in creating and updating applicable process documentation.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties and special projects as required or assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in business or a related field and/or equivalent years' experience is preferred.
