About the job
- At least five years of experience in housing planning, community development, urban planning, or community engagement for public agencies.
- Experience on at least one housing study, housing plan, consolidated plan, or comprehensive plan.
- Professional fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English, or a deep specialty in fair housing or homelessness systems.
- Experience facilitating public meetings with diverse and underserved communities.
- Ability to travel occasionally to client sites in the Atlanta metro area.
- Plan and facilitate multilingual Spanish-English public meetings, pop-up events, focus groups, and stakeholder interviews for county and city housing plans.
- Apply Atlanta Regional Commission Community Development Assistance Program and Asset-Based Community Development practices, and coordinate with Atlanta Regional Commission staff and community-based organizations.
- Analyze fair housing conditions, including segregation and opportunity mapping and zoning barriers, and draft equity-driven housing strategies and indicators.
- Help design emergency and transitional housing frameworks and referral pathways with Continuum of Care partners.
- Translate and adapt surveys and public materials, and review them for plain language and cultural fit.
- Draft sections of housing needs assessments, strategic housing plans, and implementation matrices.
- Experience working with the Atlanta Regional Commission, Georgia Department of Community Affairs, or an Atlanta-metro county or city.
- AICP certification.
- Experience with Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing, Analysis of Impediments, or HUD fair housing planning.
- Continuum of Care, Homeless Management Information System, or coordinated entry experience.
- GIS and data visualization experience using ArcGIS, Tableau, or Power BI.
