Requirements
  • Community college diploma or equivalent training such as Real Property Administrator (RPA) or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET).
  • One to three years of facility management work experience or three to five years of facility-related work experience.
  • Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance management, building systems, and facility equipment.
  • Knowledge of current building standards, codes, and legislative requirements.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to manage budgets, project plans, and estimated costs.
  • Ability to manage service delivery and monitor performance against key performance indicators.
  • Ability to lead and engage a team, including employee development and performance management.
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships, including sourcing and qualifying vendors.
  • Ability to execute emergency preparedness, risk management, and business continuity plans.
Responsibilities
  • Manage operations, maintenance activities, and annual facility programs for an assigned portfolio to ensure facility uptime and safety.
  • Create and implement annual facility management plans and collaborate with stakeholders to oversee facility-related programs.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair activities performed by internal technicians and service providers to ensure work is completed on time and meets quality standards.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation, including annual inspections and equipment data, is captured within service maintenance databases.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate capital assets and provide recommendations for maintenance, repair, replacement, and capital budget inclusion.
  • Monitor service delivery performance against established metrics and execute corrective action plans to address gaps.
  • Act as the focal point for client communication and escalation, ensuring client obligations and satisfaction are met.
  • Develop and manage budgets for portfolio and project expenses in collaboration with the Finance team.
  • Develop and execute project plans, overseeing delivery with minimum disruption to facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislated, corporate, and industry-related requirements, including environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Organize and facilitate health and safety meetings with vendors to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Manage employee-oriented activities including engagement, hiring, retention, and compensation recommendations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Working towards or committed to completing the Certified Facility Manager (CFM) credential through the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).
  • Working towards or committed to completing the Certified Property Manager (CPM) credential through the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).
  • Working towards or committed to completing the Facility Management Administrator (FMA) designation through the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI).
  • Working towards or committed to completing the Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation through the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI).
