Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) is required, although an additional four years of combined education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience is required.
  • At least one certification in the current platform, domain, or technical skill is required; possible certifications include AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional, Azure Administrator Associate, Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or an Oracle Database Administrator certification such as OCP or OCE.
  • Expertise installing, configuring, and administering Oracle Database platforms, including versions 11g, 12c, and 19c, in complex enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency managing Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL relational database platforms, including cross-platform integration and interoperability.
  • Skill in database provisioning, cloning, and migration using DBCA, SQL scripting, and Oracle Data Pump.
  • Advanced experience designing and implementing backup, recovery, and cloning strategies using RMAN, Flashback technologies, and Recovery Catalogs to meet RTO and RPO objectives.
  • Expertise in database security and compliance, including user and role management, privilege assignment, auditing, and regulatory controls.
  • Advanced SQL performance tuning and query optimization using AWR, ASH, ADDM, and SQL Monitor reports.
  • Strong expertise analyzing query execution plans using EXPLAIN PLAN, DBMS_XPLAN, SQL Trace, and TKPROF, including cross-instance performance troubleshooting.
  • Expertise tuning database and instance performance, including SGA, PGA, I/O optimization, and parallel execution, with proactive monitoring and predictive tuning.
  • Hands-on experience configuring, patching, and troubleshooting Oracle Real Application Clusters environments.
  • Experience implementing and managing Oracle Data Guard and Active Data Guard, including monitoring, switchover, failover, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience configuring and administering Oracle GoldenGate replication, including conflict detection, resolution, and cross-environment synchronization.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining Automatic Storage Management environments.
  • Proficiency provisioning and managing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure database services, including Autonomous Database, Exadata Cloud Service, and OCI DB Systems, with operational integration across hybrid environments.
  • Experience using Shell, Python, and Ansible automation and scripting to streamline database management, performance monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Experience participating in capacity planning, performance benchmarking, and advanced diagnostic activities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, internal customers, and external customers.
  • Advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical peers, customers, management, and support personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to database architecture and design within assigned environments, supporting scalable, secure, and high-performing database platforms for critical business applications.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on multiple database technologies and provide guidance on integration, optimization, and modernization projects.
  • Support database technology roadmaps and platform improvements in alignment with enterprise standards and business requirements.
  • Resolve complex database performance, scalability, and resilience issues by coordinating troubleshooting and implementing remediation solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging database technologies and provide recommendations to senior leadership or project teams.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage data for improving business processes and system performance.
  • Design, engineer, and document database solutions and technical standards aligned with business objectives and architectural guidelines.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery and high-availability solutions for supported database platforms.
  • Develop and execute database backup strategies, including scheduling, validation testing, and documentation, to meet recovery objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate database installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior or mid-level database administrators.
  • Ensure data consistency, integrity, and availability through database design, configuration, and lifecycle management practices.
  • Monitor database performance using diagnostic tools and metrics, identify trends, and proactively address potential issues.
  • Perform advanced SQL optimization, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and configuration adjustments across platforms.
  • Implement automation and scripting solutions to identify and remediate performance bottlenecks and reduce manual administrative effort.
  • Conduct system health checks and recommend operational or configuration improvements to optimize resource utilization.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions aligned with defined RTO and RPO objectives.
  • Support high-availability and resiliency architectures, including replication, clustering, mirroring, and failover setups.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing exercises, validate procedures, document results, and support continuous improvement.
  • Support data protection and business continuity initiatives through redundancy and fault-tolerance implementations.
  • Implement database security policies, access controls, encryption, and authentication procedures.
  • Participate in security audits and vulnerability assessments and assist with remediation of identified risks.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data assets.
  • Configure and maintain monitoring frameworks to track database performance, availability, and usage trends.
  • Respond to incidents affecting database performance, connectivity, or data integrity and ensure timely resolution.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring or systemic database issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Automate database operations using Shell, Python, and Ansible scripting and orchestration tools.
  • Support integration with enterprise identity platforms such as Active Directory for secure and centralized authentication.
  • Execute cross-platform data transport, including transportable tablespaces, endian conversion, and platform migration support.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
  • Work outside regular hours when required.
  • Observe contractor work, review invoices, approve invoices meeting contractual standards, address contractor performance issues when possible, and escalate issues when needed.
