Called RAY, the service has been launched in partnership with IndusInd Bank. Bajaj Finance is among the first businesses to go live with the service, Razorpay said. Businesses can ask RAY for information such as payment summaries and transaction analysis. The AI assistant can also perform certain actions, including generating payment links and initiating refunds, without requiring users to access Razorpay's dashboard. Razorpay said businesses can also use RAY to check settlement-related information and receive alerts on payment-related issues. For example, the assistant can flag an upcoming settlement that falls around a bank holiday and offer an option to settle it earlier. The company said RAY has handled more than 20,000 conversations with businesses so far. It did not disclose the number of businesses using the service. Razorpay said RAY is built on its AI agent platform, which allows a single AI agent to access different capabilities covering payments, settlements, refunds and support. The company said its system evaluates responses in real time to reduce incorrect or hallucinated responses. The launch expands RAY from an AI-based information and support tool into an agent that can also initiate actions on behalf of businesses. The company said the service is available to businesses of different sizes through WhatsApp. IndusInd Bank is the banking partner for the service, while Razorpay provides the payments and technology platform.

According to a Reuters report, the retail payments umbrella entity is likely to unveil the framework, named the Unified Agent Protocol, next week at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai. Under the current architecture, users must confirm transactions before payments are completed, but the proposed protocol will automate the process for routine and low-value digital transactions where prior authorization has been granted. Integration with Existing Architecture to Drive Delegation The proposed framework is expected to leverage existing UPI functionalities, notably UPI Circle and Reserve Pay. UPI Circle permits primary account holders to delegate payment authority to another individual, while Reserve Pay facilitates payments within predetermined limits and conditions. By utilizing these tools, AI agents will be able to execute financial transfers under precise rules defined by users. Transaction limits, advance user consent, conditional triggers, and stringent safeguards will form the core operational parameters of the system, eliminating repetitive manual authentication for routine digital payments. Either the team installs almost nothing and ends up running fulfilment out of a spreadsheet three months after launch, or they switch on every app in the list and drown in fields nobody fills in. Neither problem is a software problem. It is a sequencing problem, and it usually traces back to a module list picked before anyone mapped the actual order-to-cash flow. This is a practical shortlist rather than a catalogue.
