We are looking for an Energy Storage System Product Owner / Sr. Manager to join our team. The goal of an Energy Storage System Product Owner / Sr. Manager at Wisk is to drive the preliminary and detailed design of the electrical battery storage system which interfaces with the power distribution system, battery management system and the external charging system. You will be part of the Energy Storage & Power System (ESPS) Integrated Product Development Team (IPT) that is accountable to deliver the complete power system for the Wisk Gen 6 autonomous vehicle.
Why we need youThe successful candidate is well established in the energy storage industry with expertise designing battery technology into electric vehicles (automotive and/or aerospace), and with up-to date knowledge of the industry trends towards higher energy density and safer (solid state) chemistries. Has experience as a technical leader who has direct hands-on experience in the development, integration and testing of battery systems with the technical breadth necessary to interface with all functions such as Engineering, PMO, Manufacturing, Test, and Certification. In this role, the candidate must be proactive, forward thinking and self-motivated with the ability to inspire and lead by influence a team of skilled engineers.
This position is onsite in our Mountain View, Ca office and will require travel as needed.
Responsibilities:
- As part of the ESPS IPT organization, you will act as an Energy Storage System Product Owner / Sr. Manager for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market
- You will lead a team of over 35+ engineers (that includes 3 direct reporting managers) to plan and execute the product development and delivery of a energy storage system that meets technical requirements, on schedule, within budget
- You will report on cost, schedule, and technical performance (including KPIs) to program leadership
- You will define team priorities and deliverables
- You will work closely with R&D team to evaluate emerging technologies, evaluate technical maturity and plan block point upgrades to the battery storage system
- You will work closely with the ESPS IPT Program Manager to lead your team’s annual budget planning and rolling wave schedule updates
Requirements:
- You have a B.S. in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 14 years of experience (or M.S. with at least 10 years of experience) in the development, integration and testing of battery systems
- You have worked with, and have a deep understanding of battery Cell technologies, High Voltage / Low Voltage systems and sensors / interfaces to the Battery Management System
- You have led team(s), formally or informally, in a new product development environment
Desired:
- You have experience with an aircraft or UAM development program
- You are familiar with RTCA DO-311 for FAA guidance on Qualification Testing of Lithium Battery Systems
