Lumafield introduces in-line arrayed X-ray system.

Lumafield introduces in-line arrayed X-ray system. Lumafield has announced the launch of Mars, its high-speed in-line arrayed X-ray system designed for manufacturing environments where throughput and total quality oversight are critical. Purpose-built to integrate directly into existing production lines, Mars inspects every part at full conveyor speed, eliminating the need for complex fixturing or production flow interruptions. While conventional in-line X-ray systems have traditionally served as siloed checkpoints to catch obvious defects, the value of their data has remained isolated. Mars connects production-line X-ray hardware directly to Lumafield's powerful cloud-based software platform, Voyager. This integration turns every scan into an actionable data point, feeding automated decision-making, real-time process monitoring, and comprehensive organizational reporting. Overcoming the constraints of traditional quality control. Historically, manufacturing teams have been forced to choose between thorough quality inspection and maximum line speed. According to Lumafield's 2026 Cost of Quality Report, 77% of manufacturers still rely on manual visual inspection, with nearly half of organizations spending up to 10% of all production labor hours on manual checks that are both costly and prone to missing hidden internal defects. This manual bottleneck makes 100% inspection cost-prohibitive, forcing teams to rely on spot checks that can let critical failures slip through. Mars changes the equation by maintaining maximum line speed while delivering robust inspection capabilities. Key technical highlights and benefits include: Production-Speed Performance: Mars reaches inspection speeds of up to 2.5 ft (760 mm) per second, keeping pace with the most demanding, high-volume manufacturing environments. Advanced 2.5D Architecture: Mars is available in both 2D and 2.5D arrayed configurations. The multilinear 2.5D architecture captures critical depth information in a single pass, providing richer defect visibility for challenging applications. Flexible Hardware Integration: Configurable module with integrated conveyor or a wrap-around integration that installs over your existing conveyor. Source and detector configurations can be adjusted for overhead or side-view scanning depending on how parts are presented on the line. Automated Sorting & Rejection: Configurable sorting and rejection options give teams control over how flagged parts are handled downstream. Seamless Line Integration: Compatible with all major PLCs for easy integration. "In-line X-ray inspection has existed for decades, but these systems have always been limited by the intelligence of their software. Mars uses AI to solve quality issues that were previously impossible to address with automated X-ray inspection," said Andreas Bastian, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Lumafield. "The manufacturers we work with are under pressure to move faster, catch problems earlier, and do more with leaner teams. Now every unit that moves through the line generates information that feeds back into how the process is run and how quality decisions get made across the entire organization." Centralized quality intelligence. Beyond simple pass/fail screening, Mars tracks feature distributions across entire production runs, enabling quality and operations teams to spot process drift and outliers before they cause costly yield failures. The solution is highly versatile, optimizing quality for a range of applications such as electronics, automotive components, batteries, and consumer packaged goods. Mars can even scan items directly through finished packaging, allowing logistics operations to identify counterfeit or defective returns before breaking a seal. Mars also functions as a powerful addition to the broader Lumafield ecosystem for manufacturing intelligence. When deeper analysis is required, flagged batches can be automatically routed to Triton Performance for full 3D CT scanning. This allows teams to precisely characterize failure modes and confirm defects without unnecessarily scrapping viable parts. All data routes into Lumafield's Voyager software platform, which centralizes inspection data into a single, comprehensive quality record across multi-site supply chains.

Lumafield introduces Neptune Performance and Triton Performance connecting metrology-grade measurement to production-line inspection.

Lumafield introduces Neptune Performance and Triton Performance connecting metrology-grade measurement to production-line inspection. By GlobeNewswire June 17, 2026 New performance hardware tier delivers metrology-grade 3D measurement and rapid in-line CT for a continuous quality thread from R&D to production lines SAN FRANCISCO, June 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Lumafield, a leading manufacturing intelligence platform, today announced Neptune Performance and Triton Performance, a new tier of high-performance industrial X-ray CT scanning solutions that connects metrology-grade measurement in the engineering lab directly to automated, production-speed inspection on the factory floor. For decades, X-ray CT has been an occasional diagnostic tool-powerful but slow, expensive, and confined to specialized labs. With this launch, Lumafield turns it into a continuous thread of quality intelligence that follows a product from first prototype to high-volume production, reaching production lines where CT has never before been practical. These upgraded systems combine metrology-grade precision with unprecedented scanning speeds, enabling engineering and quality teams to inspect complex assemblies, verify internal dimensions, and monitor high-volume production lines without compromising on accuracy or throughput. The timing is urgent. Manufacturers are under pressure from trade uncertainty, material inflation, and energy volatility, forcing companies to aggressively confront their internal costs of quality to remain competitive. According to Lumafield's 2026 Cost of Quality Report, more than 40% of North American manufacturers estimate that quality-related costs consume over 5% of their revenue-and most believe that figure understates the true number. Traditional inspection tools are either too slow to keep pace with production lines or unable to inspect hidden internal geometries. Neptune Performance and Triton Performance eliminate this tradeoff. With the launch of its new performance tier, Lumafield makes fast, accurate 3D inspection practical for any production line, helping manufacturers catch defects early, cut down on waste, and protect their margins. Neptune Performance Neptune was introduced in 2022 as a groundbreaking inspection tool that made X-ray CT technology accessible to industries that had never been able to use it before. The new Neptune Performance represents a substantial hardware upgrade for improved accuracy and faster scans. This metrology-grade 3D X-ray CT platform delivers rapid, highly accurate measurement insights for engineering and quality teams. With 12x faster scans and 4x the data quality compared to the standard Neptune system, Neptune Performance enables teams to: * Measure critical internal features at micron-level accuracy-even with challenging materials like transparent and flexible plastics or aluminum that complicate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and visible-light inspections. * Inspect critical-to-quality features against Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts and nominal CAD with saveable, reusable measurement plans. * Reduce fixturing and programming effort compared with traditional CMM and optical metrology workflows. Triton Performance Triton Performance brings automated, non-destructive CT inspection to the factory floor, enabling manufacturers to scan parts at production speed and scale. In as little as 10 seconds per part, the platform provides complete volumetric CT reconstructions. Triton Performance can be used across a range of quality and process control applications to: * Catch internal defects before they escape and build a traceable inspection record without the need for specialized staff or dedicated facilities. * Create automated inspection recipes that target specific, known failure modes. * Identify and flag parts that deviate from expected norms and automatically group for review. A measurement template built on Neptune Performance in the R&D lab becomes the automated inspection template for Triton Performance on the factory floor. Both platforms connect into Lumafield's cloud-based Voyager software environment, establishing a unified quality thread across an organization. The critical tolerances, GD&T studies, and potential failure modes identified during development travel directly with the product into volume manufacturing to provide a single, global view of product quality across multiple facilities. "With Neptune Performance and Triton Performance, we're transforming X-ray CT from an isolated diagnostic tool into a continuous stream of manufacturing intelligence," said Andreas Bastian, Co-Founder and Head of Product at Lumafield. "By closing the loop between lab-grade metrology and high-speed factory-floor inspection, we're giving teams the common data foundation they need to catch process drift earlier, scale production with absolute confidence, and bring better products to market much faster." "The image quality we saw on complex multi-material assemblies was beyond what we expected," said Sam Farmer, Mechanical Engineer at BioFire. "Having that level of visibility completely changes how we think about QA." Neptune Performance and Triton Performance are available now. To learn more or schedule a demo, visit www.lumafield.com/platform. Lumafield Secures $50 Million to Scale AI-Powered CT Inspection Across Manufacturing

Lumafield secures $50 million to scale ai-powered CT inspection across manufacturing. * Lumafield raises a $50 million growth capital facility from Silicon Valley Bank. * The funding accelerates deployment of industrial CT scanners and AI analysis tools. * The funding accelerates deployment of industrial CT scanners and AI analysis tools. Lumafield expands its reach in industrial intelligence. Lumafield has secured a $50 million growth capital facility from Silicon Valley Bank, a division of First Citizens Bank. The company calls this a step toward universal access to high-performance CT inspection. Its scanners sit inside production lines. They give engineers the power to see inside products with microscopic precision. They show defects. They show structural weaknesses. They show what slows manufacturing down. The platform blends hardware and cloud software. It uses machine learning to analyse every scan. It highlights anomalies. It flags risks. It gives companies a clearer view of quality at every stage. Automakers use it for EV batteries. Medical device makers use it for surgical tools. CPG brands use it to improve packaging. Electronics companies use it to refine components. CEO Eduardo Torrealba says the mission is simple. Make advanced inspection accessible. Bring deep visibility to every factory. And remove the guesswork that slows innovation. He says the new facility proves strong market demand. He says SVB has been a long-time partner that understands the pace of industrial transformation. SVB agrees. Chris Morrison, Managing Director for Technology and Healthcare Banking, says Lumafield has taken CT scanning out of the lab and into everyday production. He says the new facility helps the company scale to meet rising demand. He says the technology is reshaping how manufacturers verify product integrity. Backing and strategic outlook. The facility comes from Silicon Valley Bank's Technology Banking Group. It gives Lumafield room to accelerate. More scanners in factories. More AI-powered analytics. More customers onboarded globally. The company already works with some of the world's best-known industrial brands. It says demand is climbing as manufacturers shift toward higher automation and more complex assemblies. Founded in 2019, Lumafield has support from major technology investors. Its backers include Lux Capital, Kleiner Perkins, DCVC, Spark Capital, Matter Venture Partners, IVP, Wellington, and Haystack. It also has backing from Tony Fadell's Build Collective and Figma founder Dylan Field. Their support signals confidence in a category that blends inspection, automation, and cloud-native engineering analysis. Why ct-driven manufacturing intelligence matters. Manufacturing is changing fast. Products are more complex. Materials are harder to inspect. Battery chemistries evolve. Medical devices shrink. Packaging demands rise. Legacy inspection tools cannot keep up. They are slow. They are expensive. They require specialist labs. Lumafield's scanners change the model. They sit directly on production floors. They run continuously. They push scans to the cloud. Their AI analyses data in real time. The system flags anomalies before they become failures. It reduces waste. It reduces recalls. It reduces the cost of physical testing. Manufacturers say the platform shortens development cycles. Teams move faster from prototype to production. They confirm designs earlier. They catch problems before products ship. This advantage grows as industries adopt autonomous workflows and EV-heavy supply chains. Product and operational expansion. The new capital expands Lumafield's deployment plans. It allows the company to ship more scanners. It strengthens its cloud processing infrastructure. It builds capacity for higher-volume customers. Its roadmap includes sharper AI defect detection. It includes automated recommendations. It includes tighter integrations with manufacturing software. It includes faster scan processing for high-throughput lines. The company's cloud dashboard remains central. It stores every scan. It tags every pattern. It tracks every component. It gives engineers a living model of their products. This matters for safety-critical industries. It matters for precision tooling. It matters for packaging where tolerances are tight. Why investors are confident. Investors see a shift in industrial AI. They see manufacturers demanding more insight. They see quality assurance moving to the cloud. They see CT scanning entering mainstream workflows. SVB says Lumafield stands out because it merges hardware and AI into a single stack. It is not just a scanner. It is an intelligence layer for modern factories. Customers back this. Automotive teams say the system reveals issues that normally go undetected. Medical device engineers say it reduces validation cycles. Packaging teams say it removes weeks of trial and error. This mix of hardware reliability and cloud analytics attracts companies looking for speed, accuracy, and transparency. Risks ahead. Lumafield faces scaling challenges. Manufacturing demand is high. Global supply chains remain unpredictable. CT hardware requires precision assembly. Competitors are exploring new approaches to imaging and non-destructive testing. The company must continue to innovate quickly. Its AI models must stay accurate. Its cloud tools must handle larger fleets. Its industry integrations must deepen. Regulatory factors matter too. Medical and automotive markets have strict compliance rules. Data from scans must be stored securely. Manufacturers require traceability. These conditions make reliability essential. What comes next. The company says the coming year is about expansion. More scanners. More performance improvements. More embedded intelligence inside manufacturing lines. It plans new workflows for battery inspection. New analysis tools for structural complexity. New automation layers for high-volume facilities. If Lumafield succeeds, CT-driven manufacturing intelligence could become normal. Not specialised. Not rare. But a standard layer inside every modern factory.
