  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Three years of management experience is required, preferably in healthcare-related environmental services.
  • A minimum of five years of experience within the environmental services field is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability is required.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Experience with training methods and techniques is required.
  • Proof of legal status to work must be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Plant Operations and Maintenance Department in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Direct all staff in completing project assignments within budget and on schedule.
  • Ensure department staff maintain required hazardous-materials and safety training in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and practices.
  • Train colleagues in proper work practices and maintain training regularly.
  • Monitor department staff to ensure compliance with safety, infection-control, body-mechanics, and ergonomics policies and procedures.
  • Ensure department staff participate safely and professionally in fire-safety and disaster-preparedness drills.
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of all buildings and grounds in all seasons.
  • Provide 24-hour coverage and rotate on-call duties with department staff.
  • Ensure the performance, condition, and reliability of plumbing, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
  • Develop, evaluate, and maintain preventive-maintenance programs and written maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure outside services and contractors complete work properly and comply with contractor expectations, including Interim Life Safety Measures.
  • Conduct an annual facilities assessment to identify needed improvements and repairs.
  • Manage department finances, controllable expenses, operating and capital budgets, forecasts, financial reports, supply expenses, labor, overhead costs, and vendor billing.
  • Schedule major equipment purchases, remodeling, and special projects.
  • Purchase equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Select and manage contractors and coordinate maintenance and repairs of facility equipment.
  • Ensure visitor and staff safety and coordinate fire drills and annual fire-safety training with the Safety Officer and Education Director.
  • Coordinate employee door-proxy badge access and keypad codes with Human Resources.
  • Serve as an active member of the Safety Committee and Quality Committee and provide quality reports using established matrices.
  • Ensure maintenance staff are adequately trained in telephone systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems, environmental controls, and security systems.
  • Inspect and perform minor repairs, including batteries, cables, power cords, and minor hardware, before referring repairs to outside contractors.
  • Implement, monitor, and evaluate performance-improvement activities.
  • Attend facility committees and committee-management meetings as appropriate.
  • Promote effective intradepartmental and interdepartmental relationships.
  • Direct and participate in human-resource management for the department, including selection, promotion, orientation, and performance-appraisal processes.
  • Establish and maintain performance standards.
  • Effectively communicate administrative directives to personnel and encourage departmental meetings and discussions.
  • Provide customer service by being attentive and approachable and by greeting and thanking customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
