- A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine is required.
- Successful completion of residency is required.
- The physician must be board certified or board eligible and have medical staff privileges.
- A South Carolina medical license is required.
- A South Carolina controlled substance license is required.
- A Drug Enforcement Agency number is required.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Knowledge of office equipment, including fax and copier, is required.
- Mathematical skills are required.
- Specialty-specific skills are required.
- Diagnose, prevent, or treat disease, defects, or injuries and recommend or prescribe treatments for physical, mental, or functional ailments or defects.
- Provide medical treatment consistent with generally accepted professional standards of care without regard to patients' ability to pay or protected characteristics.
- Complete accurate, legible, and timely records for medical examinations and procedures, including accurate use of Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases codes.
- Provide after-hours call coverage equally with other practice physicians unless otherwise agreed.
- Comply with accepted medical practice standards and the rules and regulations of managed care organizations and payors, including Medicare and Medicaid, subject to professional medical judgment.
- Maintain continuing medical education sufficient to meet physician certification and state licensing board requirements.
- Participate in non-revenue-generating activities that advance Prisma Health's vision and mission, including committees, community outreach, teaching, research, and other activities assigned by the Department Chair.
- Participate in responding to requests for proposals for managed care contracts.
- Participate in establishing quality assurance, utilization management, patient education, and patient satisfaction programs.
- Assist the employer in obtaining and maintaining licenses, permits, authorizations, and applicable accreditations for the physician's practice or department.
