LayerZero (ZRO), together with Citadel Securities and DTCC, will launch the institutional crypto exchange ATLAS this fall.

LayerZero (ZRO), together with Citadel Securities and DTCC, will launch the institutional crypto exchange ATLAS this fall. 25 Aug, 2026 byDropsTab Join Its Socials ATLAS will not have a consumer application; it will become the underlying infrastructure for trading assets on the blockchain for institutional clients. Coinbase has launched tokenized stocks on Base. Trading is available 24/7, and liquidity has already appeared on Aerodrome (AERO). 25 Aug, 2026 byDropsTab Join Its Socials Coinbase has launched tokenized shares of U.S. companies on the Base network. These shares are issued under the B20 standard and are backed by real shares held in a 1:1 ratio by the regulated broker and custodian Alpaca. Users outside the U.S. in supported jurisdictions will be able to hold and trade fractional shares of stocks, including Apple and NVIDIA, directly through non-custodial wallets. Trading is available 24/7, and liquidity has already appeared on Aerodrome. The tokenized shares can also be used in Base's DeFi protocols - for example, as collateral for loans via Aave or to provide liquidity on DEXs. B20 is based on ERC-20 and is compatible with existing wallets and DeFi infrastructure. Dividends and stock splits are accounted for via a special on-chain mechanism without changing the number of tokens on the balance. Base announced that in the coming weeks, Coinbase's list of available tokenized shares will be expanded, and later, other RWA assets are planned to be added to the network. Arthur hayes' new essay, "same same but different": Bessent repeats Yellen's pattern - Bitcoin responds with a rise. 25 Aug, 2026 byDropsTab Join Its Socials The actions of the U.S. Treasury Department, led by Scott Bessent, are starting to resemble Janet Yellen's policy from late 2023, when an increase in short-term government bond issuance helped release about $2.4 trillion in liquidity. It was precisely this factor that supported the growth of Nasdaq and Bitcoin at the time. Now, Bessent is trying to curb the rise in long-term Treasury yields by increasing the volume of reverse repurchase agreements. On August 19, the Treasury announced additional buybacks totaling approximately $20 billion, after which the yield on 10-year bonds briefly declined, and Bitcoin saw a noticeable rally. However, this volume is insufficient, and the market may force the Treasury to expand its support. Three possible scenarios: * The Treasury and the White House cut spending - unlikely ahead of the election; * Bessent announces unlimited bond buybacks at yields above 5% (following the model of the Bank of Japan) - the best-case scenario for Bitcoin; * The most likely scenario is a gradual increase in buybacks combined with the use of other reserves, including the Treasury's account at the Federal Reserve (TGA, around $1 trillion). A direct interest rate cut or a new round of quantitative easing is unlikely until the AI infrastructure market bubble bursts. Maelstrom's position: The company holds maximum risk in its portfolio - betting on Bitcoin, Ether, Ethena, and Ether.fi. Mining Zcash (ZEC) is currently 4.5 times more profitable than mining Bitcoin (BTC). 24 Aug, 2026 byDropsTab Join Its Socials Against the backdrop of ZEC's growth, the profitability of Zcash mining has noticeably increased. Currently, the Antminer Z15 Pro generates about $727 in gross revenue per 1 MWh of electricity: * Zcash - $727 per 1 MWh. * AI/HPC computing - $223. * Bitcoin on the Antminer S23 Pro - $162. * Bitcoin on the Antminer S21 Pro - $103. In terms of gross revenue per unit of electricity, Zcash mining is now approximately 3.3 times more profitable than AI/HPC and 4.5 times more profitable than Bitcoin mining on the new-generation ASICs. As recently as late June, the Z15 Pro generated around $373 per 1 MWh. The main driver behind this increase was the rise in ZEC prices by roughly 70% over the past week. It's important to note that this refers specifically to gross revenue, excluding costs for equipment, maintenance, and electricity consumption. The Entropy platform for trading pre-IPO assets on Hyperliquid has raised $14 million and $40 million in HYPE. 24 Aug, 2026 byDropsTab Join Its Socials The Entropy project has announced the raising of $14 million in funding led by Ribbit Capital, as well as $40 million in HYPE, which will be staked to develop trading markets on Hyperliquid. Entropy's first product will be a marketplace for trading Anthropic - the team calls it the first liquid way to gain exposure to the company before its IPO. Entropy is developing infrastructure for trading assets that are difficult to bring onto conventional markets: pre-IPO companies, startups, commodities, indices, and other instruments. To this end, the project is building its own liquidity-weighted oracle that will take into account the real depth of the market and enable price discovery directly through the order book. The team consists of former employees and traders from Citadel Securities, Optiver, Polymarket, and Millennium. The project's first markets are already being launched on Hyperliquid. Wintermute has obtained a brokerage license in the U.S. 06 Aug, 2026 byDropsTab Join Its Socials Wintermute has registered its U.S. office as a broker-dealer, obtaining oversight from FINRA and the SEC. This paves the way for the company to obtain official market-maker status on the NYSE and Nasdaq exchanges. It will start with crypto-related markets - commodities and digital asset ETFs - and then plans to enter the tokenized equity space if regulatory conditions permit. Wintermute USA has already attracted ETF issuers as clients and expects to compete with Jump Trading, Jane Street, and Citadel Securities within 3-5 years. Senate Majority Leader John Thune confirmed that the chamber is "delaying" the vote. The reason is insufficient support from Democrats, which is necessary to advance the bill. Negotiations are ongoing. Thune could seek cloture before the recess - a procedural move that would allow the vote to be scheduled for when senators return in mid-September; however, the actual vote on the bill would still not take place. Democrats refused to approve a time agreement that would have accelerated remaining business before the recess and brought the crypto legislation to a vote. To wrap up work without dragging the session into next week, Republicans would need unanimous consent from all 100 senators. According to Reuters, the model gained internet access due to improper configuration and then exploited a vulnerability in a third-party service. The model in question may have been Muse Spark 1.1, which Meta positions as one of its most advanced models for programming and agent-based tasks. Meta emphasized that the incident occurred during controlled testing, not as a result of an actual cyberattack. Previously, similar incidents have been linked to models from other companies, including Anthropic and OpenAI. Citadel Securities hired a semiconductor architect and Goldman Sachs MD.

Citadel Securities hired a semiconductor architect and Goldman Sachs MD. 3 hours ago Semiconductor stocks may have hit a rough patch last month, but the talent working on that technology is as in-demand as ever. Electronic market maker Citadel Securities recently hired the former CTO of a smaller semiconductor design firm, who was most recently plying his trade at Goldman Sachs. Mayan Moudgill joined Citadel Securities last month in New York as a senior software engineer. He spent the last quarter century working across Goldman Sachs and Sandbridge Technologies, a semiconductor manufacturing firm. He spent the last five years at Goldman Sachs, where he was an MD within the bank's engineering division, but spent seven years before that as chief architect and CTO of Sandbridge. Moudgill was part of the Sandbridge founding team in 2001, and became a tech fellow at Goldman Sachs during his first stint there. Moudgill is also credited on over 100 patent filings dating back to 1996. Many of these involve multithreading, where different threads of a program can run concurrently on different cores of a piece of hardware, allowing for significantly faster data analysis. His later patents, filed during his time at Sandbridge (which had changed names to Optimum Semiconductor Technologies after being acquired by a Chinese technology firm), were for a "neural network accellerator." Although Moudgill is joining as a software engineer, it seems likely that he will be working on hardware in some capacity. Citadel Securities declined to comment further than verifying his job title. It has a robust hardware engineering team which primarily works on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). It offers base salaries of up to $350k for FPGA engineers in current open job listings.
