The company operates in both traditional internal combustion engine vehicles and the growing electric vehicle (EV) market. GM generates revenue primarily through vehicle sales under brands like Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Buick, as well as through financing and insurance services via GM Financial. Unlike many competitors, GM is actively involved in community service and sustainability efforts, with employees contributing significant volunteer hours.
