  • All city tractor-trailer drivers must have two years of verifiable interstate driving experience, or at least one year of verifiable interstate driving experience and a diploma from a PITT OHIO-approved accredited driving school.
  • Drivers must pass a PITT OHIO driving test administered by an approved PITT OHIO trainer.
  • Drivers other than sprinter truck drivers must possess or obtain, within 90 days, Hazmat and Tanker endorsements on a current valid driver's license issued by their state of residence.
  • Drivers must possess only one valid driver's license issued by their state of residence. Drivers who recently transferred from another state must provide a copy of their former license or information for verification and information on all licenses held during the prior 36 months.
  • Drivers must have no driver's license suspension or revocation lasting more than 30 days during the 36 months before the motor vehicle record is ordered, subject to the stated exceptions for suspensions for failure to pay or appear without a conviction for driving while suspended.
  • Drivers must have no citation or conviction for a serious traffic violation during the 60 months before the motor vehicle record is ordered.
  • Drivers must have no pattern or record of more than three motor vehicle violations during the 36 months before the motor vehicle record is ordered.
  • Drivers must have no pattern or record of more than one at-fault traffic accident and no more than two motor vehicle violations during the 36 months before the motor vehicle record is ordered.
  • Drivers must pass a Department of Transportation physical examination.
  • Drivers must consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
  • PITT OHIO must receive negative controlled-substance and alcohol results from prior employers for the past three years, with no prior evidence of controlled-substance use.
  • Drivers must not have refused an alcohol or controlled-substance test, including a pre-employment test, during the past three years.
  • Drivers must consent to a ten-year work-history check and explain any gap of 30 days or more; documentation may be requested, and discrepancies may prevent processing or result in withdrawal of an offer.
  • Drivers must be able to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Drivers must consent to use of driver-facing event recorders in the fleet.
  • All CDL drivers must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
Responsibilities
  • Drive a commercial vehicle safely while picking up and delivering general freight.
  • Load and unload the trailer, independently or with dockworker assistance; use mechanical freight-handling equipment where available and appropriate.
  • Frequently lift, pull, push, and carry freight.
  • Secure freight using straps or other methods when required.
  • Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
  • Comply with federal requirements for transporting hazardous materials.
  • Drive a tractor-trailer in all conditions and comply with federal regulations and hours-of-service limits, including required off-duty periods.
  • Maintain driver logs and other records required by state and federal regulations.
  • Perform duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with federal, state, and local regulations for safe commercial motor vehicle operation.
