Requirements
  • A high school diploma and a minimum of 5 years of experience in social services and office administrative skills are required.
  • The candidate must have a positive work history.
  • The candidate must be responsible, respectful, serve as a positive role model, and be able to follow instructions.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and other required programs is required.
  • The candidate must be well organized and prepared to be sensitive to individuals’ cases.
  • The role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the social service program and overseeing and managing the office.
Responsibilities
  • Attend to calls and correspondence regarding social services.
  • Intake new client applications and update client applications monthly.
  • Enter client information into the Social Work portal and update client files as social work is administered.
  • Prepare monthly statistics for the food pantry, hygiene closet, and other social-service activities.
  • Oversee the food pantry, including preparing and distributing grocery bags and maintaining food-pantry paperwork.
  • Take inventory of food-pantry items and place approved orders as needed.
  • Oversee the stocking and organizing of food-pantry shelves.
  • Receive donated food, sort it, check it, discard outdated or damaged items, and submit required reports.
  • Coordinate and support food drives organized for The Salvation Army Food Pantry.
  • Oversee the Hygiene Closet, including inventory, stocking, distribution, and paperwork.
  • Act as volunteer coordinator by recruiting volunteers, processing required paperwork and screenings, monitoring volunteers, and recording hours.
  • Schedule and supervise community-service workers, maintain records, and write letters or reports as needed.
  • Assist with applications for Corps summer activities, including campers for Star Lake Camp.
  • Assist with public-relations events and campaigns, including the Christmas Kettle Campaign.
  • Assist with and oversee seasonal social-service programs such as Thanksgiving, Christmas distribution, Community Cares, and Back to School Distribution.
  • Oversee Social Service Ministries, including the Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry, Hygiene Closet, Referral Services, Housing help, and Emergency Services.
  • Assist with soup-kitchen preparation, serving, and cleanup as needed.
  • Oversee social-media activity, monitor and post to Corps Facebook and Instagram, and maintain the online social-service programming schedule.
  • Communicate needs and concerns involving social services to the Commanding Officer.
  • Organize and maintain files and records.
  • Answer phones, take messages, make referrals, and provide information in the main office.
  • Organize and coordinate the Corps Calendar for Social Services and Community Relations and notify Officers of conflicts.
  • Help coordinate employee timecards, distribute new timecards weekly, collect completed timecards, and submit them to Officers for timely processing.
  • Help with seasonal employment applications, especially kettle-worker applications.
  • Inventory and maintain the Coffee and Snack center and ensure it is stocked and distributed to volunteers and clients.
  • Collect and distribute mail as directed by Corps Officers.
  • Maintain inventories and supply needs for staff members and Officers, order assigned supplies, receive deliveries, and ensure supplies reach the correct area.
  • Make appointments and organize contractors, utilities, deliveries, and maintenance of Salvation Army property under the supervision of the Commanding Corps Officers.
  • Perform other applicable services assigned by the Corps Officer.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ability to speak Spanish is highly recommended and preferred.
