  • At least 10 years of experience applying engineering principles to debug complex failure analysis in opto-mechanical assembly process problems.
  • Experience diagnosing failures using root cause analysis tools such as fishbone diagrams, hypothesis tables, and the 8D approach.
  • Experience with failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience with data processing tools such as Python, MATLAB, and JMP.
  • Familiarity with back-end semiconductor assembly processes, testing methodologies, and equipment, including die attach, wire bonding, and automated optical inspection (AOI).
  • Exposure to photonics sub-assembly, with experience in semiconductor packaging and inspection equipment, processes, and material systems, including die attach, wire bonding, optical coupling, flip chip, and underfill.
  • Characterization experience in mechanical vibrations, thermography, and mechanical load testers.
  • Ability to manage short deadlines and follow a disciplined work process in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership in ambiguous situations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thermomechanical characterization of sub-assemblies and associated silicon dies.
  • Carry out failure analysis and debugging activities on sub-assemblies.

Desired Qualifications

  • Peripheral experience in photonics and electrical engineering is a plus.

About the Company

PsiQuantum

Utility-scale fault-tolerant photonic quantum computers

PsiQuantum builds quantum computers for utility-scale use, using photons as qubits and a semiconductor-friendly Omega chipset. The Omega platform combines high-performance single-photon sources, superconducting detectors, and optical switches to enable scalable chip-to-chip interconnects and precise quantum operations. It explores fault-tolerant methods like fusion-based quantum computation (FBQC) to improve error correction and resilience, targeting applications in chemistry, materials science, optimization, and cryptography. The company stands out by emphasizing manufacturability with standard semiconductor processes, large-scale chip integration, and collaborations with government and research institutions to push toward a practical, widely accessible quantum computer.
