Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant certification program is required.
  • Graduation from a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of three years of Medical Assistant experience is required.
  • Candidates without formal Medical Assistant training may qualify with at least three years of related experience in a comparable clinical role, such as Licensed Practical Nurse, medical student, Emergency Medical Technician, paramedic, or another related healthcare position.
  • Ability to work in healthcare environments with direct patient contact and regular use of medical equipment.
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and position patients and transport medical supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and precautions, including use of appropriate safety equipment and protective clothing.
Responsibilities
  • Work within the scope of training, education, and demonstrated capabilities.
  • Follow practice, clinic, and office workflow protocols to maximize quality, efficiency, and patient experience.
  • Perform pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient records, including test results, consultations, correspondence, and other relevant information.
  • Determine needed services based on established practice protocols and communicate point-of-care reminders to providers through the electronic medical record.
  • Greet patients, perform registration and check-in functions, answer phones, schedule appointments, obtain referrals and authorizations, process forms, and complete patient discharge.
  • Collect and properly process co-payments, deductibles, and self-pay balances at the time of service.
  • Verify patient demographics, referrals, authorizations, billing codes, diagnosis information, and other required information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Provide clerical and administrative support for the practice.
  • Orient and serve as a resource to new employees regarding department policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and treatments and escort them to examination rooms.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, weight, chief complaint, medication reconciliation, medical history, and other required information in the patient record.
  • Document patient health concerns and pain scores in the electronic medical record and complete required questionnaires.
  • Promote efficient patient flow throughout the practice, clinic, and office.
  • Review health maintenance and chronic illness services and perform or order appropriate services according to established protocols and standing orders.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and approved clinical procedures, including blood pressure measurement, electrocardiograms, pulse oximetry, hemoglobin A1C, glucose testing, urinalysis, urine pregnancy testing, and rapid strep testing.
  • Document allergies, medications, medical history, surgical history, and family history in patient records.
  • Initiate pharmacy benefits verification as required.
  • Assist providers with physical examinations and perform procedures using aseptic technique and established standards.
  • Administer vaccines and place purified protein derivative tests according to practice and clinic protocols.
  • Complete post-visit follow-up, including labeling, documenting, and sending blood and other specimens to the laboratory.
  • Follow up on laboratory results, ensure entry into the medical record, track orders and results, contact patients regarding reminders, and update the electronic medical record.
  • Report abnormal laboratory results to the physician or nurse immediately.
  • Follow up on specialty referrals and other services, track consultation reports, update the electronic medical record, and contact patients regarding referral outreach and reminders.
  • Monitor prescription refill requests and follow up as needed.
  • Clean and prepare examination rooms between patients and for subsequent appointments.
  • Explain programs, procedures, and preparation requirements for tests and examinations.
  • Educate patients about care coordination and appropriate use of emergency department services.
  • Document identified barriers to care.
  • Schedule tests and follow-up appointments, preregister patients, verify demographic and insurance information, and obtain prior authorizations.
  • Monitor and order medical supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Clean and maintain medical equipment and report broken, missing, or malfunctioning equipment to management.
  • Check expiration dates on medications and medical supplies and remove and report expired items to practice or clinic management.
  • Perform administrative office duties, including mailing patient reminders and correspondence.
  • Use slower periods to complete activities that prepare the practice for future needs.
  • Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection-control standards according to hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Protect patient privacy and confidentiality according to HIPAA and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Participate in a collaborative, team-based approach to patient care.
  • Support Patient-Centered Medical Home goals and principles by adapting to changes in workflows, processes, and patient-care needs.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

(“TriSalus” or the “company”), an oncology company in the process of going public through a business combination transaction (the “Business Combination”) with MedTech Acquisition Corporation (Nasdaq: MTAC) (“MedTech” or “MTAC”), today announced that it has expanded the reach of its ongoing Pressure-Enabled Regional Immuno-Oncology™ (“PERIO™-01” and “PERIO™-02”) clinical program.In recent months TriSalus has opened five new PERIO™-01 (NCT04935229) clinical trial sites, at Stanford University Hospitals, University of California Los Angeles, University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus, University of Washington Medical Center and University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, in addition to five previously activated sites.
