TD Africa, HP deepen partner engagement with exclusive Proximity Partners event.

TD Africa, HP deepen partner engagement with exclusive Proximity Partners event. By Staff Writer Leading technology distributor, TD Africa, and global technology company Hewlett Packard (HP), on August 26, 2026, hosted an exclusive Proximity Partners event at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, under the theme "Stronger Partnerships, Smarter Possibilities". A major highlight of the event was an in-depth exploration of HP's 2026 product portfolios, with HP experts providing insights into its Personal Systems, Commercial Notebooks, Commercial Desktops, Z Mobile Workstations, Consumer Notebooks, and other innovative solutions designed to meet the diverse needs of today's businesses and consumers. The discussions also highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace, with participants examining how AI-powered technologies are enabling people to work smarter, improve productivity, and achieve greater efficiency. Rather than replacing human capabilities, the conversation emphasised AI as an enabler that enhances how people work and make decisions. Speaking while welcoming guests, Kingsley Osuala, country manager, HP, said the event was designed to provide an interactive platform for proximity partners to deepen their understanding of HP's extensive product portfolio and explore solutions tailored to the evolving needs of small businesses. "HP has so much to offer from end-to-end experiences for hybrid work, to compute, display, productivity and collaboration," he said. For TD Africa, the partnership with HP reflects its commitment to creating opportunities for businesses and partners to access innovative technologies while building the knowledge required to maximise their value. Ikenna Ekeh, executive business coordinator, TD Africa, described HP as a valued global brand within TD Africa's extensive product portfolio, noting that the partnership represents more than product distribution. "TD Africa, believes that technology becomes truly impactful when businesses have the right solutions, knowledge, and the partnerships to unlock its value. HP is a global brand that shares this vision, and we are proud to have its innovative portfolio within our product basket. We are not simply putting products in the market; we are equipping our partners with all they need to work smarter, grow faster and compete more effectively," Ekeh said. As technology continues to reshape the way businesses operate, TD Africa remains committed to fostering strategic partnerships that translate innovation into practical business value, and opportunities to deliver smarter possibilities to the market.

Data#3's Paula Fountain joins HP as channel director.

Data#3's Paula Fountain joins HP as channel director. 31 Aug 2026 2 mins Filling the absence left by Chris Hewlett. HP has hired Data#3 end user compute national practice manager Paula Fountain as commercial channel director to fill the absence left by Chris Hewlett. Starting from 12 October, the vendor said Fountain's appointment strengthens its partner-first strategy Australia-wide as she is "widely recognised as one of the country's most accomplished channel leaders". HP also said the hire reflects its commitment to investing in its leadership. Fountain enters the role with over 30 years of experience in Australian technology companies, with 17 years of this time spent at Data#3. During this time, she partly developed her prowess around HP technology, as Fountain spent close to six years - from January 2015 to November 2021 - as the managed service provider's national practice manager for HP as well as HPE. Her expertise with HP has also been acknowledged by the vendor previously, as the company entered her into the HP Hall of Fame during the 2025 HP Partner Awards in November 2025. Fountain enters the role following the departure of Chris Hewlett, who announced his departure earlier this month after 26 years with HP. In a LinkedIn post, Hewlett reflected on his tenure at the vendor and highlighted the impact the company's culture had on both his professional and personal development. "It's hard to put into words what HP has meant to me over more than two decades," he wrote at the time. From its editors straight to your inbox. Get started by entering your email address below. HP hits record Q3 revenue of $15.7B despite 16% drop in PC shipments

HP Inc. reported record fiscal third-quarter revenue of $15.7 billion, but shares fell over 9% after hours as PC unit shipments dropped 16% year-over-year. Personal Systems revenue rose 18% to $11.8 billion despite the volume decline, while Printing revenue fell 2% to $3.9 billion. The company warned that rising memory and storage costs would pressure margins through the fourth quarter, with no recovery expected until fiscal 2027. CFO Karen Parkhill said HP prioritised higher-value units and raised prices to offset commodity inflation. Adjusted earnings per share hit $0.83, beating guidance of $0.61-$0.71. HP raised its full-year adjusted EPS outlook to $3.19-$3.29 from $2.90-$3.10 and increased its free cash flow forecast to $3.0-$3.2 billion.

HP licenses Wi-Fi patents from blacklisted Huawei in global deal

HP and Huawei announced a multiyear global patent cross-licensing agreement covering Wi-Fi technology. Under the deal, HP receives licenses to certain Huawei Wi-Fi patents, whilst Huawei gains reciprocal patent rights from HP. HP characterised the arrangement as routine, stating it's a standard-essential patent license used broadly across the industry. The company emphasised it doesn't represent a broader strategic or commercial relationship with Huawei. The agreement comes despite Huawei remaining on the US entity list since 2019, which restricts it from working with American suppliers. The deal builds on an earlier arrangement concluded last autumn when HP secured entry to a 2,000-patent pool covering wireless network connectivity technology, with Huawei among the founding members.
