About the company

GE Aerospace designs, builds and services jet engines and aircraft systems for airlines, plane makers and armed forces around the world. Through CFM International, a 50-50 venture with France's Safran, it makes the LEAP engine, the only engine on Boeing's 737 MAX and one of two offered on Airbus's A320neo family. Its other units make avionics and electrical power systems for civil and military aircraft. Most of its revenue comes from repairs, spare parts and long-term service deals that airlines buy over the decades each engine stays in use, with the work done in its own and partner shops. GE Aerospace traces to General Electric, founded in 1892, and is based in Evendale, Ohio.

What believers are saying

  • Demand outruns supply: orders rose 17% to $16.5 billion in the quarter to June 2026, lifting backlog above $210 billion.
  • Hiring is broad: in March 2026, GE Aerospace set 5,000 US factory and engineering hires, after 5,000 in 2025.
  • Factory investment is sustained: GE Aerospace has pledged over $2.5 billion to US plants and suppliers since 2024.

What critics are saying

  • Its biggest deal adds debt: the $11.75 billion CPP castings purchase, agreed September 2026, mixes $7 billion cash with borrowing.
  • Hourly pay follows a fixed track: Evendale and Erlanger's UAW contract sets 3% to 5% raises through 2029.
  • Parts remain the choke point: castings shortages still slowed engine deliveries across the industry in September 2026.

What makes GE Aerospace unique

  • Its engines fill the skies: about 50,000 commercial and 30,000 military GE and partner engines are in service.
  • Lean methods shape daily work: staff follow FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace's own lean operating model built on continuous improvement.
  • The Pentagon depends on it: GE engines power F-16 and F/A-18 fighters and Black Hawk and Apache helicopters.

GE raises 2026 guidance as orders jump 49% and backlog tops $170B

General Electric raised its full-year guidance for revenue, profit, and free cash flow on its third-quarter 2026 earnings call, held on October 20, 2026. Orders rose 49%, led by a 58% jump in commercial engines and services (CES). The order backlog now exceeds $170 billion. Year-to-date revenue is up 23%, and operating profit has grown $1.5 billion, or 22%. Chief executive officer Larry Culp said the company's Flight Deck lean operating system cut shop visit turnaround times by over a week since the end of 2025. LEAP engine turnaround is down two weeks. GE also agreed to acquire CPP, a long-term supplier, to build capacity for mission-critical castings.

GE Aerospace falls 4% despite earnings beat and raised outlook as costs climb; RTX edges higher, boeing barely moves.

GE Aerospace falls 4% despite earnings beat and raised outlook as costs climb; RTX edges higher, boeing barely moves. GE Aerospace beat estimates and raised its outlook, yet the stock sold off sharply while rivals held steady. The reason hiding beneath the headline numbers points to a cost problem that could haunt every future earnings report. A beat-and-raise quarter from GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE | GE Price Prediction) is running into a jump in engine-related costs. GE Aerospace stock fell 4%, landing at $299.59 during the morning session, even after the jet engine maker topped estimates and raised its full-year outlook. Meanwhile, RTX (NYSE:RTX) stock is up 0.52% to $193.15. The gap stands out because both companies sell engines into the same commercial aviation market, pointing to a selloff rooted in GE Aerospace's own quarter. Allowances and reserves climb behind the beat. Key data−. Previous Close Market Cap Day's Range 52wk Range Dividend Yield On the surface, GE Aerospace delivered a clean quarter. Its Q3 2026 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.25 beat the $1.99 consensus estimate, and revenue of $14.12 billion topped the $12.84 billion analysts expected. Management raised GE Aerospace's full-year 2026 guidance across the board. That outlook now calls for adjusted EPS of $8 to $8.10, up from a prior range of $7.65 to $7.85. Targets for operating profit and free cash flow moved higher as well. Beneath those headline figures, GE Aerospace's costs are climbing fast. GE Aerospace's sales discounts and allowances rose sharply on new engine installations, spare parts and durability reserves. The company's cash generation slid too, with free cash flow falling 9.2% year over year to $2.04 billion while operating income barely moved at $2.81 billion. Mix and inflation also weighed on GE Aerospace margins, partially offsetting gains from higher volume and pricing. Separately, the company deferred revenue recognition on its GE9X engine pending midseal certification, which adds one more open question to an already complex cost story. Culp points to momentum and a deep backlog. Chief executive H. Lawrence Culp Jr. struck an upbeat tone as GE Aerospace posted its results. "Thanks to the collaboration of the GE Aerospace team with our supplier partners we continue to build momentum," Culp stated. He also pointed to record internal shop visit output and an agreement to acquire Consolidated Precision Products, a castings supplier, to expand capacity. GE Aerospace now expects commercial services revenue to grow at a low-double-digit rate in 2027. That forecast rests on what Culp called the company's "over $170 billion commercial services backlog," which gives the services business deep visibility into future work. Free Report, Just Released Why Didn't GE Make The Top 10 List? 24/7 Wall St has helped investors make money for over two decades, and our top analysts just finished ranking the definitive Top 10 Stocks To Buy Now. Not the ten biggest companies. Not the ten everyone is arguing about. The ten best stocks to buy right now. And GE didn't make the cut! The report is free, and you can see why we think each stock is a top investment today. Demand is holding firm at GE Aerospace, with total orders up 49% to $19 billion in the quarter. Its commercial services orders climbed 23%, and the company keeps spending over $3 billion a year on research and development. Selloff stays contained to GE Aerospace. GE Aerospace makes most of its profit servicing commercial jet engines over their working lives, while RTX pairs its engines with defense systems. Boeing (NYSE:BA) builds the aircraft those engines power. A service-heavy model like GE Aerospace's puts parts allowances and durability reserves close to the center of its earnings, which helps explain why the cost jump hurts. Boeing shares are down 0.49% to $190.57. Across the sector, the iShares U.S. Aerospace & Defense ETF (CBOE:ITA) is down 0.4% to $206.90. That far smaller decline marks the GE Aerospace stock selloff as company-specific. Furthermore, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) is down by only 0.1% to $765.92. With the broad market nearly flat, macro weakness explains little of the slide in GE Aerospace shares. GE Aerospace's cost picture sets the next test. GE Aerospace still faces the question of whether allowances and durability reserves ease next quarter. Midseal certification for the GE9X is the other open variable, since GE Aerospace can't recognize that engine's deferred revenue until it comes. As long as those costs keep climbing, GE Aerospace stock could stay volatile around each quarterly report. Position sizes should stay small until GE Aerospace's cost picture resolves. Got $1,000? GE Aerospace reports Q3 results on October 20 with a backlog above $210B and shares down 20% from peak

GE Aerospace reports third-quarter results on October 20 before the opening bell, with investors watching whether the engine maker can revive a stock that has lagged in 2026. Shares are down roughly 20% from their August high of $388.84, as a premium valuation and rising oil prices make investors cautious. Analysts expect revenue of about $12.9 billion and earnings per share of $2.02. The company has beaten earnings expectations in each of the past four quarters and has a backlog above $210 billion. In the second quarter, adjusted revenue rose 24% to $12.6 billion and orders climbed 17% to $16.5 billion. GE Aerospace raised its 2026 outlook, now expecting adjusted earnings per share of $7.65 to $7.85.

Become a member today Environmental officers are investigating a fuel leak in the River Taff, which came from GE Aerospace's Nantgarw site. The leak was reported on Friday October 16, with GE Aerospace confirming the fuel got into the river during repair works at its factory. The fuel supply was shut off after the discovery. Natural Resources Wales (NRW) said action taken since Friday has "significantly reduced" the amount of fuel reaching the river -while work to "recover fuel from the drainage system and minimise environmental impacts" remains ongoing. Pollution has been reported along the river in Taffs Well, Nantgarw, and Treforest, as well as at Gwaelod y Garth and Tongwynlais. In a statement, NRW described it as a "complex incident" involving underground drainage systems. It said: "Our officers remain on site today with specialist contractors and the operator to locate and stop the source of kerosene entering the drainage system. "As part of this investigation, a harmless green tracing dye may be used at points today to help track water flows and identify the route of the pollution. "Members of the public who see the dye should be aware that it is a standard investigative technique and does not pose a further risk to people or wildlife." NRW said it was assessing the impacts on wildlife and is analysing samples collected from the river. "While fish have sadly been recovered, this had not, as of last night, been categorised as a major fish kill event", the statement continued. "Further assessments are continuing today." A GE Aerospace spokesperson said: "The safety of its employees, neighbours, and environment is its top priority. "We are working closely with NRW and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to clean up a fuel spill that occurred on site while repair work was underway." Never miss an update.
