About the company

Crisp runs an online supermarket that brings fresh groceries from small food producers to households across the Netherlands and Flanders. Shoppers use its app to order seasonal produce, bread, dairy and other food, while the company buys directly from makers to shorten the route between farms and kitchens. Its own warehouse and delivery operations prepare and transport orders, supported by software built for purchasing, shopping and last-mile logistics. The business earns money from grocery sales and also supplies workplace lunches, with customers choosing their food or leaving the selection to Crisp. Founded in 2018, Crisp is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

What believers are saying

  • Crisp's full-time Amsterdam business sales representatives get leave: 27 vacation days plus one annual volunteering day.
  • Crisp's full-time Amsterdam developers share ownership: its full-stack vacancy includes equity alongside salary.
  • Crisp expands workplace reach: De Buurtboer became part of the business in July 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Crisp's Amsterdam warehouse conditions are demanding: full-time employees working at least 32 hours face 3-6C refrigeration and -26C freezers.
  • Crisp's Amsterdam full-stack role limits flexibility: on-site work, 36-40 weekly hours and upper-intermediate Dutch are required.
  • Crisp's meal-box revenue faces easy cancellation: Weekbox customers skip or cancel in one app click.

What makes Crisp unique

  • Crisp's meal planning stays human: chefs select three weekly Weekbox recipes rather than algorithms.
  • Crisp formalizes its social mission: the supermarket operates as a certified B Corp.
  • Crisp connects suppliers to reuse rejects: bruised fruit becomes kombucha through its grower and brewer partnership.

Crisp raises $28M to scale operations and expand into corporate lunch market

Online supermarket Crisp has secured €25 million in a new funding round from existing shareholders. The capital will support expansion and growth initiatives. The investment will finance a new sustainable distribution centre, AI development, and expansion within the food sector. This includes the recent acquisition of corporate lunch specialist De Buurtboer. Funds will also support private label products and organic range expansion. The funding coincides with operational milestones. Crisp's first deliveries from its new Amsterdam distribution centre launch this month. The facility has an A+++++ energy label and generates its own electricity, operating nearly self-sufficiently. The move doubles Crisp's operational capacity for consumer and business segments. The location also accommodates an expanded production kitchen, addressing growing demand for freshly prepared meals.

Crisp Raises $37 Million To Expand Dutch Grocery Delivery

Grocery app Crisp has raised $37 million to enhance its seasonal/local food-focused delivery service. The Amsterdam-based company announced the funding in a Thursday (Nov. 16) press release, saying it would help Crisp deliver “better food for the many” in its core markets of the Netherlands and Belgium. “A fully proprietary software and operations system specifically built for local and seasonal products and the shortest route from farm to fork,” the company said in the release. “Crisp allows country-wide customers to shop from over 900 small-scale suppliers, proving circularity, no waste and responsible farming can have its place in the mass market.”
