Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • Maintain good standing with the State Board of Nursing and all required continuing education and licensing requirements.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
  • Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and personnel, and the public.
  • Apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Solve practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Nursing Services with planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the nursing service department’s day-to-day functions in accordance with applicable long-term-care rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures for the nursing service department.
  • Facilitate resolution of resident or patient care issues and family concerns.
  • Keep reference materials at nurses’ stations current and recommend written materials that support the department’s day-to-day resident care needs.
  • Keep the Nursing Service Procedures Manual current and aligned with the facility’s nursing care procedures.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and implementing the nursing service department’s quality assurance program.
  • Complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, and other required administrative documentation.
  • Make nursing diagnoses and perform nursing assessments regarding residents’ or patients’ health status.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans based on assessments.
  • Make daily rounds to ensure nursing service personnel perform assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards and report findings to the Director.
  • Review nurses’ notes for informative and descriptive documentation, resident responses to care, compliance with nursing standards, and alignment with resident wishes.
  • Authorize the use of restraints when necessary and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Provide health education to patients and their families.
  • Assist with developing annual facility in-service training programs, including OSHA, tuberculosis, HIPAA, abuse prevention, safety, and infection control training.
  • Participate in preliminary and comprehensive assessments of each resident’s nursing needs.
  • Assist the Resident Assessment/Care Plan Coordinator with planning, scheduling, and revising the Minimum Data Set, including implementation of Resident Assessment Protocols and triggers.
  • Participate in developing written preliminary and comprehensive care plans identifying resident problems and needs, required care, goals, and responsible professional services.
  • Encourage residents and families to participate in developing and reviewing care plans.
  • Ensure personnel providing resident care understand and follow each resident’s care plan.
  • Maintain rapport with services involved in care planning to support a coordinated team effort.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities.
  • Complete required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state or federal regulations.
  • Perform general nursing duties during emergencies or staffing shortages.
  • Prepare and plan the nursing service department’s budget and submit it to the Director for review, recommendations, or approval.
  • Supervise the nursing staff.
  • Maintain required licensing and continuing education and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. He previously held CFO roles at Capital Senior Living Corporation, managing 128 communities across 23 states, and Belo Corp. He succeeds Mark Hancock, PACS's co-founder and executive vice chairman, who will retire by 30 June 2026 whilst remaining on the board as vice chairman. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Under his leadership, the company expanded to 323 facilities across 17 states, serving over 31,700 patients daily and generating $5.29 billion in revenue in 2025, representing 29.3% year-on-year growth. PACS Group, a leading post-acute healthcare platform, has appointed Dr Patrick Conway to its board of directors. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion. From 2011 to 2017, Dr Conway served as deputy administrator for innovation and quality at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where he also held roles as director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation and chief medical officer.
