The Girl Scouts of the USA have announced two new additions to their famous cookie lineup, and they are definitely thinking outside the cookie box. The two new treats are Girl Scout Sparkables, made for people with food allergies, and Patch Pals, a soft-baked treat made specifically for dogs. Yes. Your dog can now have a Girl Scout Cookie. An allergy-friendly cookie added to the lineup. Girl Scout Sparkables are oatmeal cookies packed with chocolate chips and sprinkles. They were developed with allergy-friendly food company Partake and are made without the nine major food allergens. And then there's the dog cookie. Now for the important stuff. Patch Pals are soft-baked, blueberry muffin-flavored treats created specifically for dogs. The Girl Scouts teamed up with dog-focused company BARK to create the new snack. (WNCT) - Girl Scouts will add two new items, Sparkables and Patch Pals, to its 2027 cookie lineup. The new sparkables are the first ever allergy-friendly Girl Scout cookie. The Girl Scouts worked with Partake to help eliminate the nine most common food allergies while still creating a cookie that you would want to eat. The second new addition is Patch Pals, which are cookies for dogs. These new additions to the Girl Scout cookie lineup will be available online and will go on sale beginning January 12, 2027. The regular Girl Scout cookie season runs from January 16 through March 14.

BARK is the "world's most dog-centric company" and Partake "is a Certified B Corp that works to provide everyone the ability to share in life's joys - big and small." These online exclusives will join beloved classics like Thin Mints, Samoas/Caramel deLites and Peanut Butter Patties(R)/Tagalongs! Patch Pals is a blueberry muffin-flavored cookie created just for dogs and features four "patch" designs. Sparkables are Girl Scouts first-ever cookie developed for families navigating certain food allergies. It's developed in a facility designed to avoid the nine major food allergens. This option is a crunchy oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips and colorful sprinkles. Girl Scout Cookie season is recognized nationally from January through April and these new additions will be available exclusively online for direct shipping beginning January 12.
ACPL's Aboite Branch partners with local Girl Scouts for community hygiene drive. The Allen County Public Library's Aboite Branch is partnering with two local Girl Scouts to host a community hygiene drive benefiting area families in need. The donation drive will run through August 15, collecting essential personal care items that will be assembled into hygiene kits and distributed to local food pantries. Community members are invited to donate new, unopened hygiene products including: * Toothbrushes and toothpaste * Deodorant * Bar soap and body wash * Shampoo and conditioner * Menstrual hygiene products * Other essential personal care items Cadette Girl Scouts Kyla Paul and Cora Windmiller are leading the project to earn the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can achieve. Beyond collecting donations, Paul and Windmiller have created educational resources to promote healthy hygiene habits, including a recommended reading list featuring books from the Library's collection and bookmarks with a QR code linking to an educational video they produced. "The library is proud to support young people who are identifying needs in our community and taking action to address them," said Kris Lill, Manager of the Aboite Branch. "This project combines literacy, education, and community service in a meaningful way, while helping ensure that families have access to everyday essentials many of us take for granted." The hygiene drive is open to all community members. Donations may be placed in the collection bin located inside the Aboite Branch during regular library hours through August 15.
The Girl Scouts of the USA has elected Telva McGruder as National Board President for the 2026–2029 term. McGruder, an executive director of global body manufacturing engineering at General Motors and lifetime GSUSA member, was elected during the organisation's 58th National Council Session in Washington, DC. Nearly 1,000 delegates attended the triennial meeting to vote on issues affecting the Girl Scout Movement. McGruder will lead a 31-member National Board of Directors. Seventy per cent of board members are Girl Scout alums or have experienced Girl Scouting through friends or family, whilst 30 per cent have previously served as board chair of a Girl Scout council. The board oversees GSUSA's governance, legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
