Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in merchandise planning, inventory planning, pricing, or retail analytics; apparel or ecommerce experience is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Inventory Planner by Sage, including forecasting, replenishment, and purchase order planning.
  • Strong command of retail math, including margin, markup, sell-through, weeks of supply, inventory turn, GMROI, and open-to-buy.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills and the ability to work accurately with large data sets.
  • A track record of turning analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Sound judgment when operating independently within established guardrails, with the ability to escalate decisions above those boundaries.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to present findings to senior leadership without jargon.
  • High attention to detail and ownership of data accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth ecommerce environment where priorities shift.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, merchandising, finance, or supply chain, or equivalent professional experience.
Responsibilities
  • Own markdown strategy and cadence by identifying underperformers, modeling the margin impact of markdown scenarios, and executing price changes within established guardrails.
  • Track sell-through by style, category, size, and color, and flag risks and opportunities early enough to act.
  • Analyze gross margin performance at the SKU and category levels, including the effects of promotions, discounting, and full-price sell-through.
  • Maintain pricing accuracy across the catalog and partner on promotional pricing and event planning.
  • Conduct post-season and post-promotion hindsight analyses and turn findings into recommendations for the next buy.
  • Own replenishment planning and reorder recommendations, placing and adjusting replenishment orders independently within established thresholds.
  • Build and maintain demand forecasts by style and category, incorporating seasonality, launch calendars, and promotional lift.
  • Manage open-to-buy, keeping inventory investment aligned with sales plans and flagging when buying needs to change.
  • Monitor inventory health, including weeks of supply, aged and excess inventory, stockouts, and lost sales, and recommend exit strategies for slow movers.
  • Maintain accurate item, cost, and lead-time data in Inventory Planner by Sage.
  • Partner with operations and vendors on inbound timing and reforecast when delivery dates change.
  • Own a recurring sell-through and inventory health report for senior leadership, with clear risk and opportunity callouts and recommended actions.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that make performance visible to the wider team.
  • Partner with marketing and creative on promotional calendar timing, launch support, and inventory-informed campaign planning.
  • Work with design and buying on trend and assortment decisions by providing data that supports or challenges them.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in women's apparel or with a direct-to-consumer brand.
  • Familiarity with Shopify and ecommerce reporting tools.
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, Looker, or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Exposure to vendor and purchase order management.
  • Experience supporting a buying or merchandising team in a growth-stage business.
