Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least two years of experience is required.
  • An American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I certification is required.
  • Portable nuclear gauge safety training certification is required.
  • Understanding of the Proctor Compaction Test and Unified Soil Classification System is required.
  • Training and demonstrated competency in One-Point Proctor testing in the field are required.
  • The candidate must pass relevant tests and/or obtain valid signatures.
  • The candidate must create and maintain accurate, confidential test records and prepare understandable reports.
  • The candidate must be skilled in computers and common software applications and able to learn company-specific software and programs.
  • The candidate must be able to drive a company vehicle and comply with company operation and safety guidelines.
  • The candidate must be able to follow written and verbal directions and communicate effectively.
  • The candidate must be able to lift or carry objects up to 50 pounds, climb ladders and scaffolding, and maneuver through construction sites and excavations.
  • The candidate must have sufficient visual and hearing ability to understand written and verbal communications in English.
  • The candidate must possess a valid state driver's license and qualify under applicable company insurance policies.
  • The candidate must be available for night work, weekend rotations, early morning work, and schedule changes.
  • The candidate must be willing and able to travel daily to construction sites and accept short-term and occasional long-term out-of-town assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Review civil and structural plan specifications and identify sections applicable to the project scope.
  • Perform construction tests, inspections, and field observations according to project requirements.
  • Prepare, collect, and test samples related to soil, concrete, grout, mortar, and asphalt.
  • Submit daily field reports documenting testing, inspections, and field observations.
  • Document and communicate nonconforming items to designated project supervision.
  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate assigned equipment according to applicable codes and standards.
  • Transport, operate, and care for a nuclear density gauge in accordance with radiation safety requirements.
  • Clearly identify, verbally communicate, and document test results and construction activities.
  • Receive, understand, and execute written and verbal directions.
