Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Medicine or Health Sciences, or graduation from an approved Physician Assistant Training Program, is required.
  • A Master's degree in Nursing is required.
  • The candidate must be licensed in the state of practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • The candidate must hold National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certification.
  • The candidate must hold Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • The candidate must be eligible for prescriptive authority within the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing.
  • The candidate must be licensed in the state of practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • The candidate must hold Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.
  • The candidate must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
  • The candidate must be proficient with Windows-style applications, role-specific software packages, and keyboard use.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at the department and campus or system level.
  • The candidate must have reliable transportation and be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
  • The candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently in clinics with single- or double-provider coverage.
Responsibilities
  • Work as part of an inter-professional team to provide efficient, high-quality, cost-effective care in outpatient clinics, telehealth visits, and occupational medicine.
  • Work under the supervision of a Medical Director in a collaborative practice model within the scope of licensing and credentialing and allowed privileges.
  • Obtain patient histories and perform assessments through interviews, observation, and physical examination.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing as needed for patient care.
  • Provide direct patient care and manage health conditions using prescriptive authority or referrals to other healthcare providers.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff development and education, patient and caregiver education, and professional development.
  • Utilize approved medical practice processes in delivering patient care.
  • Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-related criteria for patients served in assigned areas.
  • Maintain an attitude of inquiry toward medical practices and patient-care outcomes and develop research methodology when appropriate.
  • Provide educational experiences to patient families, staff, other health professionals, and the community.
  • Order and interpret radiology tests, point-of-care testing, and laboratory testing; read electrocardiograms; perform minor procedures including laceration repair and incision and drainage of abscesses; and care for pediatric patients aged six months and older.
  • Provide training and education to staff, including new Advanced Practice Providers and students.
  • Adapt behavior and communication to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing oneself appropriately, explaining services and procedures, requesting permission, and adapting communication style.
  • Remain knowledgeable about applicable federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Report known or suspected unethical conduct and patient, employee safety, privacy, or compliance concerns.
  • Perform duties involving medium physical work and routine exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, or hazardous waste.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years of related work experience is preferred.
  • Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Medical Examiner certification and registration with the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners are preferred.

Cognito Therapeutics and Ochsner Health launch Gulf South brain health collaboratory for Alzheimer's care

Cognito Therapeutics has partnered with Ochsner Health to launch a Brain Health Collaboratory in the Gulf South, advancing new care models for Alzheimer's disease. The collaboration will combine Cognito's investigational Spectris technology with Ochsner's clinical network across Louisiana, Mississippi and surrounding areas. The partnership will develop a Brain Health Index to track cognitive health and disease progression whilst exploring integration of Spectris therapy into clinical care. The collaboratory will also examine coverage pathways for dual-eligible Medicare and Medicaid populations. Spectris, which received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation in 2021, delivers synchronised light and sound stimulation for at-home use. It is currently being evaluated in the HOPE Trial. This marks Cognito's second Brain Health Collaboratory, following a November 2025 launch with West Virginia University's Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.
