Requirements
  • Full training is provided during the first year on the job.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update records related to research procedures.
  • Prepare food and formulas and feed animals according to established schedules and specifications.
  • Observe animal behavior, perform basic animal care, and report concerns to the appropriate entities to contribute to animal health and well-being and support research.
  • Collect samples from animals and administer medications, injections, and treatments according to established protocols and procedures for diagnostic testing and research.
  • Inspect equipment and report problems to ensure optimal and safe operation.
  • Inventory, clean, and maintain the organization of animal holding spaces and supplies.
  • Perform milking activities, including taking and processing composite milk samples and observing and handling lactating cows in the research herd.
  • Work with close supervision initially and progress to limited supervision after developing a clear understanding of standard operating procedures.
  • Meet research-facility compliance requirements and food-grade product standards.
