About the Team
The AP Strategy and Analytics team is responsible for charting the future of the AP Program: We explore, evaluate and incubate the highest promise ideas to expand the reach of AP. Our goal is to serve a broad range of high school students to succeed in rigorous courses and earn credit opportunities that accelerate them to and through college. We are a group of versatile, high-performing individuals who work closely with leaders across College Board to drive high-value strategic initiatives for the Program. Annually, over 3 million students take AP courses, with almost 40% of high school graduates taking AP exams at some point in their high school career, creating significant potential for impact for anyone joining this team.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Director of Analytics and Strategic Initiatives in AP, you are charged with developing and delivering evidence-based, actionable, strategic recommendations in service of the Program’s top priorities, and with executing the analyses required to arrive at those recommendations. You’ll thrive when handling multiple projects, and can adapt, respond quickly, and innovate. You possess an exceptional ability to apply data to guide decisions and to understand the limitations of data. As you will support projects to define the future of AP and how the program serves millions of students, you possess a deep commitment to students.
In this role, you will:
Lead strategic Program and product design (33%)
- Design and execute projects to address complex strategic issues at both the Program and product level
- Evaluate new product development ideas with respect to mission and economic impact, market trends, and competitive positioning
Design and conduct high-impact analyses (33%)
- Transform raw data into actionable strategic knowledge using superb analytical acumen, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Pursue a rigorous, fact-based understanding of our multiple market audiences (e.g., secondary and higher education)
Influence and motivate others (33%)
- Partner with executives and managers from diverse backgrounds in supporting, facilitating, and developing business and product strategies
- Represent AP on high-impact, cross-functional, cross-divisional initiatives spanning a variety of topics (e.g., expanding access for underrepresented students)
About You
You have:
- 7+ years of relevant experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, education or product development/management, or a similar environment
- Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA or other advanced degree is preferred
- A successful track-record in two or more of the following: growth strategy, market analysis and segmentation, financial diligence, competitive response, salesforce optimization, risk analysis, and new product evaluation and launch
- Strong ability to serve as an advisor, counselor, and coach to colleagues. This includes problem-solving with a vice president who is considering barriers/opportunities to growth, or to less experienced colleague who is working on developing their synthesis skill
- Demonstrated ability to turn data into meaningful insights to guide decisions
- Data analysis skills, experience with financial and non-financial modeling, and an aptitude to present data effectively to different audiences
- Exceptional communication skills that allow you to be clear, compelling, and persuasive across formats and audiences
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of senior constituents
- Knowledge of secondary schools’ operations and culture, especially through first-hand work, is a plus

About Our Process

The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $116,000 to $180,000. College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary.
Your salary will be carefully determined based on your location, relevant experience, the external labor market, and the pay of College Board employees in similar roles. College Board strives to provide our best offer up front based on this criteria.
