Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering is preferred, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of manufacturing processes are required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are required.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and quality tools and systems is required.
  • Proficiency with computers, computer-aided design, or other technology needed to accomplish engineering goals is required.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping methods is required.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment is required.
  • The candidate must be comfortable with dynamic work conditions and efficient decision-making.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with maintenance and production to develop and implement continuous-improvement projects.
  • Provide technical support for machine downtime, preventive actions, and quality issues by conducting root-cause analysis and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and manufacturing to develop continuous-improvement projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop detailed work instructions with team members to support processes.
  • Participate in and lead Lean activities, including Kaizen, A3, and Total Productive Maintenance events.
  • Provide technical expertise across manufacturing processes, including productivity, safety, quality, and 5S housekeeping.
  • Identify the need for new manufacturing equipment by conducting return-on-investment calculations and net-payback analysis, reviewing machine-qualification contracts and terms, and qualifying potential equipment builders and third-party vendors.
  • Interface with customers, vendors, in-house sales, and manufacturing staff on quality issues by conducting root-cause analysis and developing corrective actions.
  • Maintain and provide computer-aided design layouts for existing and newly located equipment in manufacturing facilities and supporting areas.
  • Coordinate with production personnel to determine machine-downtime and scheduling challenges during repairs, upgrades, and installations, following clear planning.
  • Provide technical expertise in metal-processing processes, including industrial cleaning technology, wire straightening, and inline/offline gauging for shaped-wire metrology and measurement.
  • Support procurement, quality assurance, maintenance, and production functions outside the Engineering area.
  • Implement Statistical Analysis System for Internet of Things for process and quality improvement and machine predictive maintenance.
  • Systematically troubleshoot machine failures and implement solutions with maintenance personnel.
