  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least 2–5+ years of experience in consumer products-related industries such as retail, wholesale buying, or food markets is required.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendor and licensed brand relationships, including negotiation, is required.
  • Strong retail mathematics, open-to-buy management, and margin analysis skills are required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency is required.
  • Strong product instincts, merchant intuition, and the ability to turn category-trend insights into commercially successful product decisions are required.
  • The ability to analyze sales numbers, evaluate alternatives, and build category performance models such as sell-through analyses and margin bridges is required.
  • Packaging and presentation sensibility, including the ability to assess brand clarity, item communication, and shelf impact, is required.

Responsibilities
  • Own the commercial performance of the clip-and-rack-dominant vendor category portfolio, which is approximately 80% vendor-sourced and 20% own brand.
  • Own and develop vendor partnerships across the portfolio, including negotiating terms, pricing, minimums, exclusivities, and cooperative programs.
  • Evaluate the vendor landscape, assess existing partners, and identify new sources that fill product gaps or improve margin.
  • Negotiate pricing, recommend packaging and product changes, and finalize production samples with suppliers.
  • Analyze and maintain program assortments, recommending new-item introductions, replacements, discontinuations, and pricing changes with domestic vendors.
  • Own rack and in-line assortment and program management across categories, partnering on productivity and profitability analyses for items and customers.
  • Build and maintain rack-program vendor partnerships and ensure fixture quality and reset cadence meet retailer requirements.
  • Assess build requirements for seasonal peaks.
  • Monitor item-level sell-through and inventory position, identify replenishment needs early, and flag risks to the Vice President of Merchandising.
  • Maintain clean open-to-buy discipline and proactively manage markdown exposure.
  • Make assortment decisions across the vendor portfolio, including what to carry, in what depth, and for which accounts.
  • Recommend product exits with performance rationale and replacement plans, and present recommendations to the Vice President of Merchandising in business reviews.
  • For own-brand categories, partner with the Vice President of Product Development and Taiwan on product briefs, sample reviews, and packaging feedback.
  • Provide the commercial perspective during product development by assessing market needs, workable price points, and the competitive set.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Merchandising on go-to-market plans for new items and work with Sales on retail sell-in and exit coordination.
  • Own category profit and loss, including sales, gross margin, open-to-buy, inventory turns, and sell-through.
  • Collaborate with Retail Sales Management and Customer Development teams to address customer opportunities and needs.
  • Partner with the Project Management team on end-to-end execution of new initiatives.
  • Attend relevant industry trade shows and conferences to evaluate trends and identify new items.
  • Use social media, Google Trends, Jungle Scout, and other tools to identify current and future trends.
  • Visit retail partner and competitor stores to evaluate the competitive landscape.
  • Perform key performance indicator program reviews according to the review schedule.
  • Follow safe work practices and company policies and procedures.
  • Complete special projects and other duties assigned by the supervisor.
