Requirements
  • Graduate from an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-recognized education program, or be American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registered or registry eligible.
  • Pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registry examination within one year of hire.
  • New Jersey staff must hold a current New Jersey State Radiologic Technologist License through the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and be registered before the date of hire.
  • Hold a current Basic Life Support certification within three months of hire.
  • Have computer usage experience.
  • Be able to rotate through all areas of diagnostic radiology.
  • Meet the physical requirements of standing or walking for up to eight hours per shift, lifting and moving patients and objects, and performing frequent stooping, crouching, bending, and overhead reaching.
Responsibilities
  • Properly identify patients and examinations, perform diagnostic radiographic services with maximum patient care, and evaluate technical quality.
  • Provide technical continuity of care and educate patients about radiological procedures.
  • Use the Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System modules appropriate to the job responsibilities.
  • Gather and record data for the Radiology Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program.
  • Maintain responsibility for the assigned area and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Follow downtime procedures to ensure appropriate information is available and continuity of patient care is maintained.
  • Maintain professional development through in-service and continuing education programs and maintain a personal education binder.
  • Provide patients with educational information regarding their examinations.
  • Complete annual peer review of films in accordance with department standards and review patient condition, history, and examination information.
