Requirements
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Have basic math skills.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Be able to perform routine physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance and repair, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, lifting, and using hand and power tools.
Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance services whose volume and quality meet Dayton Freight Lines' measured standards.
  • Troubleshoot diesel engine systems using electronic control module diagnostic programs and other troubleshooting techniques.
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace external engine components.
  • Test and repair complete truck chassis electrical systems.
  • Develop proficiency in repairing all major powertrain and drivetrain components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and services according to Dayton Freight Lines' policy and time standards.
  • Repair, adjust, and align suspension and brake systems.
  • Maintain the tire maintenance program according to Dayton Freight Lines' policy.
  • Perform service calls according to Dayton Freight Lines' or the individual location's guidelines.
  • Wash and fuel equipment when necessary.
  • Perform vehicle road tests to ensure quality repair service when qualified.
  • Perform other maintenance duties or assignments as necessary.
  • Develop skills to become a leading participant in caring for and maintaining the shop, grounds, equipment, and tools.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment that complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and company standards.
  • Record all work and labor on a computer in the equipment management system.
  • Work with the Parts Department to ensure necessary materials, parts, service supplies, and shop supplies are maintained at proper quantity levels.
  • Comply with all Parts Department procedures and rules.
  • Continuously improve processes.
  • Perform duties independently or in team settings as appropriate.
