About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of experience in engineering, product or technical program management, data analysis, or product development, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience leading complex, cross-functional technical programs, strategic operations, business operations, or company-wide initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to create structure and drive execution in fast-moving environments with unclear ownership, competing priorities, and incomplete information.
  • Strong strategic judgment and the ability to connect operational decisions to broader business and technology objectives.
  • Exceptional organizational ability, including maintaining context across concurrent workstreams while identifying the issues that matter most.
  • Proven ability to influence across organizational boundaries, drive accountability, and move complex work toward resolution without direct authority.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including advising senior leaders and synthesizing complex information into clear, decision-oriented recommendations.
Responsibilities
  • Own and continuously improve the operating model for the Microsoft-OpenAI partnership.
  • Create structure across a complex portfolio of priorities, workstreams, stakeholders, decisions, commitments, and dependencies.
  • Establish operating rhythms, governance mechanisms, communication channels, and decision processes.
  • Ensure the partnership operates as a coordinated system rather than as disconnected initiatives.
  • Identify friction in how teams work together and drive practical improvements that increase speed, clarity, and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive view of Microsoft's priorities, activities, commitments, risks, opportunities, and unmet needs across the partnership.
  • Connect information across product, engineering, research, infrastructure, safety, security, Legal, business, and executive discussions.
  • Understand the strategic and technical context behind major workstreams so operational decisions reflect Microsoft's broader objectives.
  • Identify patterns, cross-workstream dependencies, and emerging issues that may not be visible to any individual team.
  • Serve as a trusted source of context for the Head of OpenAI Partnership and other senior stakeholders.
  • Translate partnership priorities and leadership decisions into clear plans, owners, milestones, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
  • Ensure important commitments are documented, understood, and followed through to completion.
  • Recognize when work has stalled, determine what is preventing progress, and drive the appropriate path to resolution.
  • Hold stakeholders accountable for commitments across organizational boundaries and levels of seniority while maintaining productive working relationships.
  • Distinguish issues teams can resolve independently from those requiring broader alignment, leadership attention, or escalation.
  • Maintain a focus on outcomes rather than activity, reporting, or process for its own sake.
  • Connect day-to-day execution to Microsoft's broader partnership objectives and long-term AI strategy.
  • Evaluate whether work is progressing, being approached appropriately, and focused on the right problem.
  • Identify gaps between strategy and execution and recommend changes to priorities, operating models, sequencing, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Anticipate second-order effects, downstream dependencies, and potential risks before they become urgent.
  • Use operational insight to help the Head of OpenAI Partnership refine priorities and make better-informed decisions.
  • Challenge assumptions and surface concerns when the current approach is unlikely to produce the intended outcome.
  • Give the Head of OpenAI Partnership and other senior leaders a clear, current, decision-oriented view of the partnership.
  • Synthesize complex information into concise explanations of what is happening, why it matters, what is at risk, and what action is recommended.
  • Prepare leadership for important reviews, decisions, and discussions with OpenAI.
  • Tailor communications to the audience, ground them in context, and design them to produce clarity and action.
  • Surface material changes, unresolved decisions, and emerging risks early to reduce surprises.
  • Ensure leadership discussions result in clear decisions, owners, and follow-through.
  • Help turn new partnership ideas and executive priorities into executable engagements with Microsoft and OpenAI stakeholders.
  • Clarify the objective, intended outcome, scope, stakeholders, dependencies, ownership model, and success criteria for new initiatives.
  • Bring together the appropriate leaders and teams across Microsoft and OpenAI to establish alignment and begin execution.
  • Create the initial operating structure, governance, communication model, and execution plan needed to build momentum.
  • Guide new engagements from early concept through initial execution and integration into the broader partnership operating model.
  • Transition mature initiatives to appropriate long-term owners while retaining visibility into dependencies and partnership-level implications.
  • Build trusted relationships with product leaders, engineers, researchers, business leaders, legal professionals, and executives across both companies.
  • Ensure Microsoft teams remain coordinated when engaging OpenAI on shared priorities or interconnected work.
  • Navigate differing perspectives, unclear ownership, and competing priorities with sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Facilitate difficult discussions and help stakeholders reach clear decisions without unnecessary process or bureaucracy.
  • Represent Microsoft's priorities, needs, and context clearly in operational discussions with OpenAI.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and at least 12 years of experience in engineering, product or technical program management, data analysis, or product development, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • At least 1 year of experience reading and/or writing code, such as for sample documentation or product demos.

Xbox tests cloud playtime packs from $4 for 10 hours, even for games you own

Microsoft has begun rolling out pay-as-you-go Cloud Playtime packs to Xbox Insiders, letting non-subscribers stream games they already own. Buyers must own a cloud-playable game or, for select games, use free-to-play access. Introductory prices are $4 for 10 hours, $8 for 25 hours, and $12 for 50 hours. That works out to about $0.40, $0.32, and $0.24 an hour. Purchased time stays available until used. The packs follow Microsoft's September decision to sharply limit the streaming catalogue for Game Pass subscribers. Unlike Game Pass, which includes a few monthly streaming hours, the packs come on top of the cost of buying the game.

Microsoft stock turned $10K into $92K in 10 years, but fell 20% or more four times

Microsoft stock turned $10,000 into $92,451 over the past ten years, before dividends. The same sum in the S&P 500 grew to $35,968. Holding the shares took nerve. The stock fell 20% or more four times, and two of those drops exceeded 30%. The deepest fall ran from November 2021 to November 2022, when the stock lost 37.6% while the S&P 500 lost 20.8%. It took until June 2023 to close above the old high. The latest decline began on October 28, 2025, and bottomed on June 25, 2026, down 34.9%. Revenue still grew in both falls, and operating margins held steady. Anyone who sold at the November 2022 low missed a 148.2% rise since. The stock now sits 2.1% below its October 13, 2026 high.

Tokenized stock trading surges overseas to $11.31B on Robinhood Chain as Goldman, Microsoft object in US

Tokenized stock trading is growing overseas while major US companies resist it at home, according to Bitwise Asset Management's latest quarterly report. On Robinhood Chain, tokenized stock volume rose from $526 million in July to $2.21 billion in August, then to $11.31 billion in September. Tokenized equities were also the fastest-growing category on Solana. Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's, Western Digital, and Alphabet have objected to tokenized versions of their shares trading on OKXICE, a venue launched by crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange. Sixteen companies have now objected. The US Securities and Exchange Commission's innovation exemption lets companies opt out. OKXICE co-chairman Andrew Cuomo said many companies would "wait and see" before taking part.

Volkswagen builds AV data flywheel with NVIDIA, Microsoft, Voxel51, cutting test drives by up to 90%

Porsche, Volkswagen Group brands, and CARIAD are building a shared data flywheel for autonomous vehicle development, they announced at NVIDIA GTC Berlin on October 21, 2026. Porsche leads the initial rollout with NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Voxel51. The Volkswagen Group fleet generates data equivalent to 11,000 average drivers per day. Voxel51 supplies the data platform, NVIDIA provides simulation and data generation tools, and Microsoft Azure provides cloud infrastructure. The system turns raw driving logs into training and simulation inputs, and rebuilds real drives for virtual testing of driving software. The partners expect to cut repeated physical test drives by up to 90% and shorten AI regression test cycles by up to 85%.

Citi's Radke: AI splits software into winners like Microsoft and losers like Adobe

Citi's Tyler Radke says AI is splitting software into winners and losers. Radke, co-head of US software equity research, told Bloomberg Television that AI is lifting growth at Microsoft, Palantir, and Snowflake. He expects Microsoft's revenue growth to top 20%, up from 18% in the quarter ended June 30. Office costs under $100 a month and bundles security and Copilot, while rivals charge hundreds of dollars, leaving room to raise prices. Adobe and smaller application vendors face pressure as IT budgets shift to AI, he said. Salesforce agreed to buy Braze for $47.50 per share in cash. Radke questions whether Salesforce can speed up organic growth after half a dozen large deals. If financing stays costly, he expects scale to decide who survives.
