Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 7 years of union construction labor relations, construction operations, contractor associations, building trades, or a closely related field-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements and project labor agreements and resolving labor-related issues.
  • Experience negotiating and/or administering project-specific labor agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of union wage structures, fringe benefits, hiring practices, jurisdiction, and craft labor requirements.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, craftsmen, and customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as cost-benefit analysis and apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to analyze and compute mathematical differences from all stages of drawings, from conceptual to final drawings, including development of shop drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand, customize, and modify spreadsheets.
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict-resolution ability.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult or contentious situations.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary company representative with local, regional, and international building trade unions.
  • Review, interpret, and administer collective bargaining agreements, project labor agreements, national agreements, Books of Decisions, and related labor agreements.
  • Negotiate single-job agreements, letters of assent, site extensions, and other project-specific labor arrangements.
  • Handle grievances, disputes, jurisdictional issues, and other labor-management matters.
  • Attend NCA, TAUC, labor-management, and other applicable industry or union association meetings.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Craft Leadership on current and future labor needs.
  • Support Payroll with wage-rate determination, fringe benefits, deductions, and other union requirements.
  • Assist craft co-workers and internal teams with benefit reciprocity and related benefit issues.
  • Serve on union trust fund boards or labor-management committees as assigned.
  • Monitor labor-market conditions, union activity, and issues that may affect current or future projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with union representatives and industry partners.
  • Champion an Incident and Injury Free environment, follow safety guidelines, and comply with safety procedures.
  • Attend 70% of ROCK Nights.
  • Complete 40 hours of approved career-related training and participate in presentation, leadership, and general business training.
  • Respond to job-site conditions while working in office and field environments.
