Campbell's rebounds 12% in 90 days but trades 5% above fair value at $22.60

Campbell's shares have rebounded 12% over 90 days but remain down 26% over one year, prompting questions about valuation. The food company reports annual revenue of $9.9 billion and net income of $608 million, split between Meals & Beverages ($5.8 billion) and Snacks ($4.1 billion). At $22.60 per share, the dominant valuation narrative suggests fair value of $21.47, indicating modest overvaluation. Campbell's trades at 11.1 times earnings, below the US food industry average of 19.5 times and peers at 12.9 times. The company has raised its cost savings target to $375 million through supply chain optimisation. However, risks include input cost pressures and weaker volumes in soup and snacks categories. The valuation gap leaves investors weighing whether shares reflect risk or opportunity.

Campbell's added to Russell indices as mixed quarterly results test growth narrative

Campbell's was added to the Russell 2500 and Russell 2500 Value indices in late June 2026, whilst reporting quarterly results with revenue slightly below expectations but EBITDA modestly ahead of estimates. The index inclusion could modestly broaden the company's shareholder base and liquidity. However, analysts note the investment case still depends on whether Campbell's core brands, innovation in products like Rao's, and productivity plans can offset category headwinds and input cost pressures. The company's narrative projects $10.1 billion revenue and $824.9 million earnings by 2029, requiring flat yearly revenue growth. Key risks include declining volumes in soups and snacks, alongside potential margin pressure from tariffs and rising input costs. Some analysts project more pessimistic scenarios with revenue around $9.7 billion.

Campbell's Q1 revenue misses expectations, down 4.4% to $2.37B as Hershey leads sector

Campbell's reported Q1 revenues of $2.37 billion, down 4.4% year-on-year and missing analyst expectations by 0.6%. The shelf-stable food company delivered a mixed quarter, narrowly beating EBITDA estimates but matching organic revenue forecasts. Across the sector, the 17 shelf-stable food stocks tracked reported mixed Q1 results. Revenues met consensus estimates, but next quarter's guidance came in 11.6% below expectations. Share prices have remained relatively flat following earnings announcements. Hershey emerged as the quarter's standout performer, reporting revenues of $3.10 billion, up 10.6% year-on-year and exceeding expectations by 2.4%. Despite Campbell's weaker results, its stock has risen 8.1% since reporting and currently trades at $23.44.

Cramer: Only consolidation can save food stocks as Campbell's falls 22% despite 7.2% yield

Jim Cramer discussed The Campbell's Company on Mad Money, highlighting the stock's 22% decline this year and its 7.2% dividend yield. He suggested the high yield signals investor concern about Campbell's ability to cover its dividend payments. Cramer argued that consolidation is the only solution for struggling packaged food companies. He cited lack of growth, health concerns, exposure to GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, and minimal pricing power as key challenges facing the sector. Without industry consolidation, he warned many food stocks could become worthless as they struggle to maintain dividend payments. Campbell's is scheduled to report earnings on Monday. The company recently posted non-GAAP earnings per share of $0.50, beating estimates by $0.02, though revenue of $2.4 billion was down 3.2% year-over-year despite exceeding expectations.

Campbell's organic sales fall 4%, EPS drops 32% as soup and snack demand softens

Campbell's reported a disappointing third quarter, with organic sales falling 4%, adjusted EBIT down 24%, and adjusted earnings per share dropping 32% to $0.50. The decline came despite continued at-home cooking trends that typically favour packaged food makers. The company, which operates through Meals & Beverages (62% of revenue) and Snacks (38%), saw soup consumption slip 4.4% and salty snack sales fall 6.2%. Despite the quarterly weakness, trailing twelve-month revenue reached $9.9 billion, up from $8.1 billion in fiscal 2019. Campbell's ranked fifth in packaged food searches behind Archer-Daniels-Midland, General Mills, Kraft Heinz and ConAgra. Management is pursuing $375 million in multi-year savings and launching new products, including Campbell's Condensed Sauces, to revive growth.
